Diaper Dilemma

I've been hearing a lot about Jessica Alba's new baby line called The Honest Company. Before Blair came I was all about cloth diapers and wanted to do my part in not adding to the landfills. Well then baby came five weeks early and the time that I thought I had to research cloth diapers went out the window. During the newborn phase I realized cloth diapers weren't a reasonable choice since newborns poop so much. But now that Blair is older I see them being more feasible. And while they are pretty pricey upfront, I hear that they save you more in the long run.

So I looked up The Honest Company and while these diapers aren't reusable, the are very environment friendly and don't have any toxins in them. They also have the cutest diaper prints ever! However, at 80 dollars a month I'm wondering how cost effective they are... I'm going to give them a go for a month while I research more options, especially cloth diapers.

Pretty cute huh? So do you use cloth diapers? If so, which ones do you prefer?

  1. I love Honest and was using them before I started CDing. I have a one size fits all stash so I was waiting for A to get big enough, and yes they will def save you money in the long run.

Check my post here for details of what I'm using. I've been doing it for a almost 2 wks now and am really happy with it. So far I like all my brands, but prefer them each for different reasons. I'm planning on doing a little post of how it's going so far in a few days!

Oh and I've been using the Honest skincare and detergent too, love both. Esp the shampoo and lotion, smells so good!

  2. I’ve never heard of this option, but I will definitely file away this brand for when I *hopefully soon* need it. My best friend uses Gdiapers and they are reusable. Most targets carry them now too so you cut out the shipping! You just need to purchase the inserts for them. From what I can tell the initial investment is a lot, but it is very cost effective after that. She loves them and constantly is telling me that I need to start investing in them now. :)

  4. I've been using gdiapers for a month now and love them. I use the cloth when at home and the flushable inserts when out. I used gift money to invest so that really helped. But I think I've already saved a ton considering how much we change each day. Plus, they are so ding dang adorable.

  6. O wow! Those are adorable! I don't have any babies but I read a post over on Young House Love and Sherry breaks it down when it comes to cloth diapers! Would love to know your reviews of the Honest diapers for the future!

  7. I tried cloth diapers and they lasted about 3 days! As much as I wanted to be environmentally friendly they just did work out. They were so messy and wasn't a huge fan of the look of them either. Ive been curious about Jessica Albas Honest collection so please update us with how you like them!

  8. I checked them out too, so cute! Huggins free & natural are made of the same stuff and cost less. They're also easier to deal with quantity since you can get them at any store. Just another option!

  9. I was just researching cloth diapers yesterday. I too, have read Sherry's post at Young House Love and it seems like they have been really happy with the bumGenius cloth diapers. I'm thinking about getting a 2 pack and trying them out before I make the investment.
