Our Day-Cation to Palm Springs

Wednesday, December 5, 2018

This post is sponsored by Palm Springs but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

I like the best of both worlds... who doesn't?! Recently we took a day trip to Palm Springs and got to go sledding and enjoy the sunshine all in one day!

We lucked out and found A LOT of snow at the top of the Palm Springs Tram. We grabbed a sled from the souvenir shop and enjoyed snow with the kids for the first time! After we were thoroughly frozen we got some hot chocolate in the restaurant and headed back to the tram to go back down to the base of the mountain.

If you're planning on taking the tram with kiddos I would bring warm jackets, hats, and waterproof boots (rain boots would get the job done). If you have a sled bring it and save yourself a few dollars. Water and snacks are obvious items and gum (for your older kiddos) would help with ear discomfort (the altitude is above 8,000 feet).

After our snow play we were pretty hungry so we hit up our favorite local sandwich shop called,  The Sandwich Spot. M ordered the "sunny and share" which is basically a BLT on crack. I got the "serve and volley" which is a turkey sandwich with "bomb" sauce and let me tell you... it is bomb! I wanted to take it home and eat it with all my meals! The kiddos noshed on grilled cheese and the service could not have been better. All smiles and complements to our sweet family from their servers and the owner (boy did we fool them!). ;)

To finish off our day trip we hit up a local coffee shop called Koffi (naturally!). The baristas were super friendly and we felt so welcomed all day everywhere we went! Their flat white hit the spot and gave us that extra boost of caffeine for the car ride home . My favorite part about the shop was the beautiful courtyard in the back. Complete with rustic wooden benches, loads of bougainvillea, and papel picado it was truly an oasis in the middle of the desert! Letting the kids run off their last bits of energy while we sat and sipped our coffee was what dreams are made of. ;)

We finished up our day with a stroll down Palm Canyon, the main street in Palm Springs. It was fun to see the festive decor and enjoy the comfortable weather. Such a great day trip for our little family!

Disneyland Survival Guide

Wednesday, March 28, 2018

Spring Break is so close I can taste it! Many of you might have plans to go to the happiest place on Earth... Disneyland! As an annual passholder I thought I would give you some tips, or things that work for me, while at Disneyland. It can be tough to navigate if you aren't there once a week (covers eyes in embarrassment) so I'm here to answer any questions!

1.Bring snacks: Of course you could eat a corn dog every time you get hungry but that might add up quickly...and your pants might not fit by the end of the day. ;)

2. Never buy clothing there: Because Target, Gap, Old Navy all sell clothing with Disney characters on them. Save some bucks and buy before you go. Better yet, get matching shirts for the whole family so you can spot each other quickly (plus twinning is winning!).

3. Bring an extra cell phone battery: with all the pictures you will be taking and all the Instagram stories you will be adding you will need some extra juice!

4. Take advantage of shows: Shows are typically a win because they don't get as crowded as the rides. I love Mickey's Map, Fantasy Faire, and the Soundsational parade! Oh, and there is a park in Toon Town for active toddlers to get their wiggles out. The twins love it!

5. Rides for adults and babies: You might think you won't enjoy the rides because you will be stuck on the carousel all day. Wrong! Babies can go on Toy Story Mania, Buzz Lightyear, Pirates of the Carribbean, the jungle cruise, Haunted Mansion, Tea cups, and MUCH MORE! Get excited!

6. Bring pjs: We always pack pj's (Mickey ones of course!) and change the kids before putting them in their car seats on the way home. Avoid that carseat-to-bed transfer mishap like that!

7. Bring a massive stroller: Honestly I will probably be bringing a stroller long past the time the twins don't need it anymore. We put so. much. stuff. in there it's embarrassing. Yes, you have to walk and not ride the tram but you will need to burn the extra calories anyway from all the corn dogs you will ingest!

8. Layer clothing: T-shirts are great for the day but it tends to get cold at night!

9. Disneyland wait time app: This allows you to see how long the wait for a ride is without walking all the way over to the ride. win-win-win!

10. Go during the week: If possible go during the week.. it's way less crowded and you will have a much better time!

Hope this helps and feel free to comment with questions!

The Museum of Ice Cream San Francisco

Tuesday, October 3, 2017

I've been trying to get tickets to the Museum of Ice Cream in LA for a while and was having no luck. I found out that the MOIC was opening in San Francisco this fall and I was not about to let the opportunity pass me by! We snagged some tickets and Blair and I flew up north to attend. We maaaaay have even ditched school for the occasion! School or ice cream? Not a tough choice. ;)

We had so much fun and I know that Blair really enjoyed her Mama time all to herself. We ate our fair share of ice cream and had fun taking pictures in all the exhibits. And if nobody already has dibs I think I'll be opening a Museum of Donuts pretty soon! ;)

I have quite a few more photos to edit and upload so stay tuned!

The Pendry San Diego

Monday, August 7, 2017

We packed our bags and headed to San Diego for a night and left the babies behind for the first time. Cal was easy-peasy and Evie was, well, she was spicy. We call her spicy alter-ego, "Evie G." ;) Luckily she wasn't fussy enough for our sitter to never watch them again so I'm calling it a win!

We stayed at the Pendry and absolutely loved it!

We had a great time eating delicious food, feeling the ocean breeze in our hair, and relaxing by the pool. There was no shortage of people watching which kept us quite entertained as well. I highly recommend the Pendry and I'll be going there again for sure!

Spring Break 2017

Thursday, April 6, 2017

We ventured out and took the babies to my parents beach house for the last few days and it went surprisingly well! Blair is on spring break so we decided to give it a whirl and we didn't regret it. It took a lot of work but it actually did feel like a vacation. We had lots of helpful hands and staring at the ocean all day long has a way of relaxing you. ;)

It was a lot of firsts for the babies...including their first swim! Poor Cal jumped so much he got blisters on the bottom of his toes. :( My suit: JCrew

Evie was lovin' life with her Lala in the hot tub! Laid back...

Blair was the cutest mermaid at the pool! Suit by Cat and Jack.

Babies first time seeing the ocean. Clearly I didn't think we would be taking a picture ha ha. PJs and workout clothes for the win!

Our favorite coffee shop in San Clemente...Bear Coast! A picture of my triplets ;)
This is becoming a regular expression of Cal's and I freaking love it.
We're rounding out our spring break by hitting up Disneyland today. Corn dogs for all! ;)
