LipSense Review

Monday, May 8, 2017

It is no secret that I am a lipstick fanatic. Every time someone tells me we are taking a picture I whip out my lipstick and apply. The problem is that I find myself re-applying like 5,000 times a day with all the eating, baby kissing, and more eating I do. ;)

So I had heard about LipSense and guys...I LOVE it! This stuff is intense and really does last. It doesn't come off when I eat an apple or kiss the babies.

Danielle sent me a kit which includes your shade of choice, the gloss, and remover. I chose Aussie Rose and I love the flirty shade of pink. It's not too bright so I feel good wearing it to preschool drop off, the grocery store, and it's deep enough to make me look alive in photos.

If you guys have been wanting to try LipSense out now is your chance! If you mention my blog you can get 10% off your purchase. You can either order from Danielle on Facebook or Instagram (@theglossarybydanielle). Thanks, Danielle! No more scrambling for my lipstick or carrying it around in my pocket. Once it's on for the day I'm good!

Hairburst

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Does anyone else have tumbleweeds of hair blowing across their floors? As a mom of twins my post-partum hair loss is out of control. Twice the hormones, twice the hair loss I guess! I had been looking for something to help combat this and Hairburst offered to send over some of their vitamins that help prevent the loss of hair pre, post, and during pregnancy due to hormonal imbalances.

I was excited to find out that my hair can still be beautiful and healthy after having twins! When I decide to actually style it, ha ha. Hairburst is full of vitamins such as biotin that help maintain healthy hair. As a mom it's important that I feel good about myself and having healthy hair certainly boosts my confidence. Thanks Hairburst!

Anti-aging Regimen

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

As my 33 birthday approaches I'm more and more concerned about my skin care regimen. I've been noticing more and more wrinkles, (whhhyyyyy) age spots, etc. I'm really starting to be consistent with my bedtime skincare routine because they say that consistency is key.

I thought I would share with you the tools I've been using to help combat the signs of aging. I don't have before and after pictures yet because I want to be consistent for three months before I compare things but I'm very hopeful!

1. Tria cleanser and serum: I use these products before and after I use the Tria laser to combat my wrinkles. My friend's dad actually makes the lasers for a living so I received mine for free (always a win).
2. Rodan and Fields eye cream: I use this to combat my crow's feet and dark under eye circles. They have SO many products I could benefit from but for now I'm starting here.
3. GrandeLash MD: Ok so this isn't really for my skin but it helps my lashes to grow thicker and longer. I'm trying it for three months to see if I notice a difference. My friends swear by it.
4. Clinique lotion: I use this for a daily moisturizer in the morning.
5. Tria Laser: As I mentioned above I use this before bed to fight against my wrinkles. I do it about 4 times a week.
6. Red Light Therapy: I've read great things about red light therapy and my friend has a tanning salon with one of these beds so I've been trying it out. Again, I want to be consistent and see what my results are in about three months! RLT can help with stretch marks, wrinkles, joint pain, acne, and the appearance for cellulite. I'm down with all these things!

Tuck & Cover Hairstyle Tutorial

Friday, June 26, 2015

Surprise! I'm not pregnant! Can you smell my annoyance from over there? I have nothing to report other than the obvious so let's move on to something more interesting shall we?

The other day I was at Sprouts and I saw the cutest mom with her hair done super pretty. I remembered my sis-in-law telling me she did her hair that way and slept in it to get curls. I liked it so much that I went home and tried it and was impressed with how decent it looked in no time at all! Plus I love that I don't have to dry or curl my hair for it to work. Take a look! #dontjudgemyroots

Start with your hair down...no curling necessary!

Put on a headband boho style. I like ones that are slim and not too tight.

Grab a small section of hair in the front.

Twist it around the headband.

Tuck it under and pull through straight.

Voila! You have one strand set.

Now grab the next strand and repeat.

If you want you can just do this on both sides to get more of a "half up" look. This would require me to curl my ends so I didn't do that.

But I like that my hair is at least out of my face.

You could also cover the back of the head band by wrapping one piece around it all the way across. That's another day.

Eventually you will get this. Again this could be its own hair style if I curled the pony tail.

Take the rat pony tail and flip over.

Now roll and tuck, roll and tuck!

Ta da! Looks professional right? ;)

I did this outside (obvi) with no mirrors so imagine the possibilities with hair spray, mirror, etc.
Real Life: My toddler (with no pants on) fresh out of the pool wanting to be in all my pictures (but not smiling). The one time I don't want the kid in the photo she insists and has a melt down. Typical. But hey at least my hair is cute! :)

New Hairstyles

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

I ponied up yesterday and got a little brave with my hair. If you know me, I've had the same hair color since, well, forever. I didn't color my hair till the month of my wedding and even then all I did was add some highlights. Since then I've chopped it off once (and never again) and gone from medium blonde to very blonde (clearly change is not my forte) but never added color to darken my hair. I've been talking about changing my hair for like 6 months plus now and finally did something a little different. It's slightly ombre but still has enough blonde in it for me not to freak out. :) Thanks Carrie for all your hard work!

Oh, and little B got her Georgia and Jane headbands in the mail this week! Seriously, doesn't she look like a little angle with it on? (I know better...) :)

mommy forgot her shopping cart cover (yuck) you better believe i bathed that cart in wipes!

onesie: Old Navy vintage :)

People were stopping us in the grocery store admiring her little headband...much thanks to Melissa at Georgia and Jane!

Hair Dilemma

Monday, August 12, 2013

Today I am off to spend some quality time with a good friend...aka get my hair done by my bff. Here is how we usually go...
ME: "I wanna do something different."
BFF: "ok"
ME: "But I have commitment issues and never wanna cut my hair or dye it too far from my natural color."
BFF: "ok, so highights again with a trim?"
ME: "yup"

Gah! Why can I not be bold and daring and FUN! Because I have hair issues. I've cut it real short before and regretted it, so that's off the table. I refuse to dye it dark for fear that I won't look like myself and be (gasp!) ugly. AND what if Blair doesn't recognize me!? That would be awful. So here I am contemplating getting bangs again. I liked having them but hated growing them out.

me circa 2008 with bangs and short hair

my short hair (YUCK)

and another bang shot...how young are we here?! 24 years to be exact...
So, I realize I really should have thrown these questions out much earlier since my hair appointment is today but here is the color I'm considering...

I know, I know, it's really not that different from what I currently have but it is a change for me! Minus the cut (heaven forbid I do that!) and the ombre (I'm afraid it's going out...) I really like the color on top...which is probably my natural color and I would love to pull some of the bright blonde through it as highlights. I think it's going to be great for fall/winter and maybe more low maintenance since it's less blonde. Sigh. Stay tuned tomorrow to see if I mustered up some courage to do it!

***just talked to hubby about my options. of course his vote is to "keep it how it is." Dilemma is in full effect. :)

Eye shadow organization

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

I know I'm way behind on this Pinterest idea but I finally got around to magnetizing my eye shadows for easy storage in my medicine cabinet. I ran out of magnets so I couldn't get to all my shadows but so far I'm loving the results! It's not that it is super pretty (no one sees it except for nosy guests) but it is super convenient! No more digging through all my make up to find the right shade. Plus I find that this way I actually wear all of my shadows...not just the ones on top of the pile.

i got sticky magnets at michaels. circles are better than strips as they fit the backs of the shadows better

no joke some of these shadows i swear i had in college. gross? probably.

oh and there is my other pinterest make up win...a brush holder!
Also, how much do you love the baby decor in the background? How else does a Mama get ready in the am!?

Ombré nails how to

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

When I went to San Jose to visit my bests I mentioned that my friend Chelsea did my nails. Well I'm here to show off her trick for ombré nails. I chose three subtle colors and one pop of glitter for my ring fingers.

Step one: buff nails

Step two: paint lightest color on base

Step three: paint glitter nail

Step four: paint sponge all three colors and roll across nail

Step five: add top coat...this is the best one EVER

Step six: clean up edges with make up brush and remover

Yay! Now you have pretty ombré nails in time for the holidays! Today we are taking our Christmas card photos with the lovely Carrie johnson at a local Christmas tree farm. Can't wait to see how they turn out! Oh, and this time I will plan our outfits more than five minutes in advance. ;)
