Cal and Evie's Mickey and Minnie Party

Sunday, September 1, 2019

Hot diggity dog! Cal and Evie turned THREE and we celebrated them Mickey and Minnie style! Although after Everly saw the decor she declared that she preferred an Elsa party (insert eye roll). I'm not sure how long I can keep up the boy/girl joint theme going on. And I refuse to do a joint party with two separate themes. Suggestions?!

I actually purchased just about everything at party city. Or I used items I already own. The sugar cookies are by @morgieporgiepuddinpie but everything else I made myself with my cricut (cutting machine).

The balloon garland I made myself and I have to say THIS electric air pump has been a life-saver.

Cal's Big Boy Room

Friday, May 17, 2019

Since taking these photos I've made a few adjustments to Cal's room but you get the idea for the most part! I will tell you that designing a little boy's room is not my strong suit but I'm happy with the way it has come together.

Bed: unknown (Blair's old crib)

Bedding: Ballard Design

Leather Pillows: Woven Nook

Dresser: Ikea

Shelves: DIY by Matt

Shelving Brackets: DIY Cartel (on Amazon)

Jute Rug: Rugs USA

Round Rug: Amazon

USA Map: vintage HomeGoods

Curtain: Ikea

Curtain Rod: Amazon (super cheap!)

Bookshelf :Pottery Barn Kids

ABC Poster: Hobby Lobby

Chevron Basket: Target

Geological Poster: Vintage

Trucks Wall Decor: Hobby Lobby

Again, let me know if you would like sources for other items and I will do my best! Most things are reused since this is Blair's old room (same for the girls' shared room) so the items can no longer be purchased but there are lots of similar things still available!

The transition from the twins being in cribs to big kid beds was pretty easy (luckily!). Blair was the same way. We've only had a couple of "falling out of bed instances" and we just added extra blankets that we rolled up under their fitted sheets. Nothing fancy... just blanket burrito because let's be honest... even in winter we aren't putting extra blankets on our beds where we live. ;)

Family Bike Rides with iBert

Wednesday, May 9, 2018

Spring (or is it summer?!) has sprung here in Southern California and we definitely took advantage of it last weekend by taking the kids on a bike ride. We used our iBert bike seats and the twins loved it! Blair graciously allowed Everly to use her old seat ;) and iBert sent Cal a snazzy new red one!

I love that the twins are on the front of our bikes so they have a great view; instead of looking at our backs the whole time. They loved the pretend steering wheel too!

If you are looking for a great bike seat be sure to check out iBert!

Disneyland Survival Guide

Wednesday, March 28, 2018

Spring Break is so close I can taste it! Many of you might have plans to go to the happiest place on Earth... Disneyland! As an annual passholder I thought I would give you some tips, or things that work for me, while at Disneyland. It can be tough to navigate if you aren't there once a week (covers eyes in embarrassment) so I'm here to answer any questions!

1.Bring snacks: Of course you could eat a corn dog every time you get hungry but that might add up quickly...and your pants might not fit by the end of the day. ;)

2. Never buy clothing there: Because Target, Gap, Old Navy all sell clothing with Disney characters on them. Save some bucks and buy before you go. Better yet, get matching shirts for the whole family so you can spot each other quickly (plus twinning is winning!).

3. Bring an extra cell phone battery: with all the pictures you will be taking and all the Instagram stories you will be adding you will need some extra juice!

4. Take advantage of shows: Shows are typically a win because they don't get as crowded as the rides. I love Mickey's Map, Fantasy Faire, and the Soundsational parade! Oh, and there is a park in Toon Town for active toddlers to get their wiggles out. The twins love it!

5. Rides for adults and babies: You might think you won't enjoy the rides because you will be stuck on the carousel all day. Wrong! Babies can go on Toy Story Mania, Buzz Lightyear, Pirates of the Carribbean, the jungle cruise, Haunted Mansion, Tea cups, and MUCH MORE! Get excited!

6. Bring pjs: We always pack pj's (Mickey ones of course!) and change the kids before putting them in their car seats on the way home. Avoid that carseat-to-bed transfer mishap like that!

7. Bring a massive stroller: Honestly I will probably be bringing a stroller long past the time the twins don't need it anymore. We put so. much. stuff. in there it's embarrassing. Yes, you have to walk and not ride the tram but you will need to burn the extra calories anyway from all the corn dogs you will ingest!

8. Layer clothing: T-shirts are great for the day but it tends to get cold at night!

9. Disneyland wait time app: This allows you to see how long the wait for a ride is without walking all the way over to the ride. win-win-win!

10. Go during the week: If possible go during the week.. it's way less crowded and you will have a much better time!

Hope this helps and feel free to comment with questions!

Beddy's: Zippable bedding!

Sunday, February 11, 2018

Blair is a crafty one let me tell you. One of her chores is to make her bed in the morning. She's decided this is too much work so instead of sleeping in her bed she sleeps on her bed with a throw blanket over herself. This makes "making her bed" pretty painless but her nights can be a little chilly.

I recently discovered Beddy's on Instagram and *poof* problem solved! Beddy's is seriously one of the most genius inventions in bedding out there. The sides of the comforter zip up! There are no sheets to pull up either because a fitted sheet is sewn inside along with a super soft minky material. When I showed it to Blair she was literally squeeling with delight haha. Blair's Beddy's is pink but they come in an array of colors for girls and boys. I was excited that her set not only came with the zipping comforter but two pillow cases and matching shams...score! No more having to buy sheets!

I definitely recommend Beddy's... cute and functional combine to make a mom (and kid) win! This post is sponsored by Beddy's but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Happy Belated New Year!

Monday, January 29, 2018

Soooooo I'm realizing it's almost February and I never really posted on the new year! Even though it's over and done with (and most people are neck deep in Valentine's Day) I wanted to post about it since this is my digital journal/scrapbook. :)

For us NYE was staying at home in our pj's with good friends, eating good food, and playing a game while watching the ball drop. Since the twins came along our NYE adventures are a bit lame toned down (and I'm okay with that!). It's a season! This year I busted out some old decorations and got fancy with Blair for fun before the festivities began and my pajamas came out. ;)

Cal was around but to be quite honest he doesn't enjoy dressing up as much as the girls. ;) Happy belated New Year!
