Say Yes to the Dress

Monday, April 13, 2015

I had a great time in San Jose this weekend. I was able to attend the Bloom Workshop (more details soon) and go dress shopping with my best friend. Killing two birds with one stone flight was money. :)

She's narrowed it down to two GORGEOUS gowns so either way she's going to look stunning. Lucky girl has the body of a super model at 5'10 and won't have to have her dress hemmed. Must be nice!

What about you guys? What did you do this weekend?

(In)Fertility Fridays

Friday, April 10, 2015

I'm currently in Los Gatos for the In Bloom blogging workshop. Woot woot! I am beyond excited to meet new friends and learn some new blogging tricks too! Along with that I get to go wedding dress shopping with my best this weekend. It's going to be a blast!

I thought I would give you a little update on our infertility journey.

Medical
My body is whack. The hormones have completely flipped me upside down and I literally have no idea what day I am on in my cycle. I am definitely frustrated but determined to give it time since the doctor says this is all normal and happens to all his patients when they go on hormones. He told me to wait 9 months to a year. Sigh. I did that last year. I was hoping this would be a quick fix but I should have known better than that! Since I can't pinpoint when I'm ovulating we are quite busy over here!;) Now you know...you're welcome.

Oh, and I got my thyroid blood test back. After one month of being on it my thyroid is perfect. Yay for that!

Emotional
Like I said I'm a bit frustrated at the obscurity of my cycle BUT I have a friend who was also diagnosed PCOS and never had a period. She ended up prego three months after being on the same treatment I am on. That's a good sign. I've also had the pleasure of talking to quite a few friends who have friends with PCOS who got prego on their own or with the meds I'm on. It definitely gives me hope!

One of the hardest things is still hearing people tell us we need to "hurry up and have another one" or "Are you guys done?" Um no. Working on it. It happens all the time and often from strangers. I know they don't know any better or mean any harm and I try to have grace but it's still annoying. I guess people just assume that since we have one we can have more. Sigh. Secondary infertility needs more publicity.

Spiritual
The Lord has given me strength and much comfort. I can't say I'm at peace with the trial (are we ever?!) but I know that this is where He has us right now and I'm moving toward peace daily. I am constantly reminding myself of His power and control over my life which helps with my anxiety. I've been really encouraged by a devotional appropriately called, "Streams in the Desert." Here's what I loved this week,

"Get into the habit of looking at the silver lining of the cloud, and when you have found it, continue to look at it rather than at the leaden gray in the middle. Do not yield to discouragement...search out God's promises...The very instant you wholeheartedly turn away from every symptom of distrust and discouragement,  the blessed Holy Spirit will quicken your faith and breath divine strength into your soul."

Along with that I am 100% obsessed with these French Press Morning prints. They are SO beautiful and encouraging!

I bought this one.
But I also LOVE these...

My life verse. :)

So cute for a gallery wall. These would be awesome gifts! And look at that...my birthday is just around the corner! Hint hint friends and family. #shameless ;)

Blair's Trip to the Dentist

Thursday, April 9, 2015

As always thanks for your input yesterday. You guys are so sweet and make my day. :)

Blair braved her first dentist appointment yesterday. I think it went well for two reasons: a) her Gramma is her dental hygienist b) there's a Peppasode in which Peppa goes to the dentist. Either way I'm glad she was so brave! It went 100% better than I had anticipated that's for sure!

The ladies who work in the office were SO sweet to her and picked out all the orange and purple (her favorite colors) toothbrushes/floss etc. She passed with no cavities and of course Baby had a check up too. :)

Smiling before her teeth get cleaned because she doesn't know the dentist is HORRIBLE. Sorry, Linda.

Learning about the tools from Gramma. Oh and no it wasn't raining...

Rocking her cute shades while her pearly whites get polished up.

Ironically the last 4 pictures I asked her to "show me her clean teeth" and we finally got one of her actual teeth at the end. Who smiles close lipped after the dentist?! Silly girl.

I could not get over how BIG she looked in that chair. Ugh my babe is growing up at warp speed!!! I'm going to need that to stop. :/

Work it Wednesday {Sleeveless Chambray Blouse}

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

It's actually been a bit chilly here this week but I know that summer temperatures will be here shortly so I came up with another fashion "how to" for the sleeveless chambray shirt. I got mine at the CAbi outlet and word on the street is that they are still selling them! This shirt is so versatile and cool which will be perfect for summer. Here is my very unprofessional opinion on how to style it several ways...

Easy. Denim and white are a classic combo! (shorts old from ann taylor loft)

Playful. Tying the shirt up and adding a playful print makes this outfit fun. (skirt: old from CAbi but currently at their outlets!)

Nerdy. I definitely need some glasses for this one! (harem pants: old from CAbi)

Skanky Beachy. And only at the beach. You will not be seeing me in this at the grocery store. ;) (printed pants: sold out from current CAbi line)

Flirty. Now this I actually would wear out running errands. A bit less skin than the printed pants. (black maxi: old from Target)

Casual: Denim on denim can work if your shades are different and if your pieces are different textures and fits. (faded jeans: old from CAbi)

The back of the blouse is longer which I like... good booty coverage! I also love the cut out detail on top. Bonus: you can still wear a real bra with it!
On a side note I try to keep my posts varied to reach all my readers. With that said what would you guys like to see more/less of? Toddler/baby fashion? Mommy style? DIY? Home Decor? Party Inspiration? I can't make any promises but I do like to keep you guys interested! Thanks for following along! :)

Easter Weekend

Monday, April 6, 2015

We had a full and lovely 3 day Easter weekend over here. The big white bunny did stop by our house a day early so we could enjoy Blair opening her Easter basket and gathering her eggs without being rushed out the door to church/brunch etc. Read: so I could drink my coffee slowly while in my pjs.

Brought these over to a friend's house for an Easter potluck. I'm officially obsessed with making smooth sugar cookies!

She wanted to wear her new dress, c/o Gymboree, for her morning egg hunt.

Books, Frozen dishware, headbands, jellies, and ballerina pillow cases. :)
On Sunday we hit up the country club with gramma and grampa for a very tasty brunch! We all stuffed ourselves silly and I'll surely be making up for that this week at the gym.

Come on Easter Bunny 101...you gotta get down on their level for a good picture!

Typical.

Then later that day we went over to my parents house for Easter dinner. B got to hang with her cousin and hunt for more eggs. She was one happy bunny!

Cousins! H looks just like his mommy and B looks just like her daddy. Apparently me and my brother have no genes to pass down...

What we do for the money shot. ;)

Annnnd 50 pictures later this was the best one. I'll have to show you the outtakes later this week and you can all tell me I'm not the only one struggling to get a good picture! (I hope!).
I hope you all had a great Spring Break and Easter. This week I'm headed to the Bloom Workshop in Northern California and I. Can't. Wait! Oh, and also wedding dress shopping with my best!

Hoppy (early) Easter!

Thursday, April 2, 2015

Hoppy (almost) Easter! Over last weekend we dyed eggs with B and she thought it was a hoot! Of course she went for the orange and purple dyes first.

She's so funny and would close her eyes every time she dropped an egg in.

She was so proud of her creations! I grimaced when I saw her grab her markers and stickers to decorate them (my OCD is showing) but she was having a blast and I guess dying eggs was for her anyway. ;) I might just have to decorate my own set!

PS While buying the eggs in the grocery store we were in the checkout line when B asked for stickers. The checkout lady gave her two yellow happy faced stickers to which she immediately peeled them off and placed one on each of my boobs. I humored her as we left the store and wore the stickers all the way to the car. Surely some of the customers thought I was quite proud of my (post-nursing non-existent) boobies. Never a dull moment!

Gym, Tan, Laundry

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

Lately I've been taking B to the gym with me since I can go at a "slow time" (read: stay at home mom time). The owner has a daughter who is Blair's age and they have had a blast playing there while I get sweaty. It's my new favorite thing mostly because then my gym time doesn't cut into family time when M gets home. Plus, I like to get my workouts over with. :)

The best part is that the owner lives in my neighborhood and the girls will be attending the same elementary school in a couple years since they're the same age. I'm already thinking about the drop off and pick up help we can be to one another! Winning!
