Motherhood Mondays

Monday, February 11, 2013

We're still battling Blair's pneumonia so she had a pretty low key weekend. Her dad however did not. He participated in the "tough mudder" race on Sunday. I had a fun weekend hanging out with some girl friends and then we had Blair's one year photos taken. I already have them back and they are SO cute! But you'll have to wait till her birthday to see (all) those. I may post one to keep the masses happy. ;)

Health

Not so bueno. She is still recovering from pneumonia. :( But I do think she is getting better. It seems her wheezing is subsiding but she has started coughing more in the middle of the night. I hate having such a sick baby. My mom has personally banned her from all interactions with other babies since her immune system is compromised. B and I were both going bonkers last week being couped up so my mom offered to watch her as I ran some errands. Such a relief! She also got to spend some time with her other gramma so I could get out and about. Lucky baby!

Diet

For once my little chunker has really been laying low on the food. She's just now starting to eat again and I've been indulging her with happy tot squeeze pouches and yogurt. She loves that stuff! I will say she is really starting to eat whatever we are eating for dinner which is nice.

Sleep

Surprisingly she is sleeping really well. Except for the coughing during the middle of the night she is still snoozing about 12 hours. However some of her medicine makes her wired and last night she was up playing till almost nine pm!

Crying

General fussiness from being sick and couped up but she seems happier now.

Social

Definitely nothing social going on. Today we are going to music class only because she isn't contagious and there are only a couple other babies there. She hangs with her mama the whole time anyway so I'm not too stressed about germs.

Milestones

Despite her sickness baby Girl decided to start crawling this week! She's not too fast or furious determined yet but she definitely has it in her. I'm constantly egging her on so I can get some video but whenever she sees the camera she freezes. Shes also been growling a lot lately which is pretty funny. I call her our little T. rex.

Post partum

Not much to report here. This section is probably going to get the boot soon!

Birthday Wish List + Crawling

Friday, February 8, 2013

It's party time! Well, not quite yet but Blair's birthday is less than a month away and I am in full planning mode (just a few minor blisters from cutting out glitter polka dots). I've also been thinking of things for her "wish list" in which she specifically told me she wanted. ;) Below are some things that I think she would enjoy...

{art supplies} {bubbles} {wooden puzzles} {melissa and doug toys}
 {touch and feel books/puzzles} {sand toys} {itunes gift card for apps} {anything baby gap} {anything etsy}

PS Gap always has 30% off deals online so I NEVER buy full price. Also B wears size 6-12 months currently or 12-18 months for summer clothes (I'm guessing). :)

Also, Target sells a lot of Melissa and Doug toys as well as art supplies and touch/feel books. Just trying to make your shopping experience easy! And presents are totally optional ;) I just know if it were me I would want a shopping guide if I were going to a first birthday! So there you have it!

We are taking B's one year pics this weekend so I can send out her invites asap. M is doing a "tough mudder" (crazy) on Sunday so we will be cheering him on (either there or in spirit). Have a lovely weekend!

Oh, and just FYI someone started crawling...

Swings and Things

Thursday, February 7, 2013

Last week B and I went to the park (again). She loves the swings and we had time to kill before Daddy got home so off we went. Maybe that is where she picked up her pneumonia. Yup, that's right, PNEUMONIA. :( Doctor confirmed this on Tuesday with an XRay. I took her in Monday as well but it's a good thing this Mama Bear's instincts took her back the next day. It went undetected because she hasn't had a fever or been too fussy. She has been sleeping great as well. But her appetite has been little to none. My heart breaks for my little sweetie and we're hoping she heals quickly. Here are her (healthy) swing pictures...

DIY Valentines

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

With Valentine's Day right around the corner I thought I would share some inspiration. I adore everything about Val Day especially making my own cards. I used to get really festive pre-baby but this year I stuck with one simple design and tweaked it just a bit for each card. I used my Cricut machine (I'm convinced everyone needs one of these) which made it much easier.

I'm a firm believer that a Valentine's Day card without glitter is no card at all. ;)

All materials purchased at Michaels.

11 months

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

Yesterday I mentioned that B turned 11 months old. M took some pictures of her this weekend and I literally died over how cute she looks in them. And not to mention grown up! Can I say that my own child is cute? I just did, I couldn't help myself. But you be the judge...

Poor B went to the doctor yesterday and turns out she has bronchiolitis which is a fancy word for baby bronchitis. Either way it stinks. Doctor gave her a "puffer" (which she actually loves go figure) to help with her wheezing. And while he said people older than two years old can't get it that still keeps her away from music class and Bible study (mama is pretty sad about that). If the wheezing doesn't subside in two days we're back to the doctor's to get antibiotics. Never. A. Dull. Moment. On the plus side she slept in till 7:30 yesterday morning and that was pretty amazing. Remember when she was six months? This weekend she gets her one year photos taken by (who else?) Carrie Johnson. Can't wait!

Motherhood Mondays

Monday, February 4, 2013

Today is Blair's 11 month birthday!!! Seriously, what?! It's like they say, "the days are long but the years fly by." Unfortunately this week she has had a cold. What started as a clear runny nose turned into a nasty wet cough. :( By the grace of God she has been sleeping really well and hasn't been too fussy. My heart just breaks for her when she coughs. She sounds like a smoker. Boo to germs. But we didn't let that stop us this week! Check us out...

Health

Not so hot. She's on her second cold of the winter. Which I guess it could be worse but since she was teething last week it just seems like she can't catch a break!

Diet

Surprisingly she is still eating well despite the cold. However she's been funky about nursing on one side. I'm still a bit concerned that it might be an ear infection since she had one with her last cold but I'm trying not to panic.

Sleep

Sleeping really well but waking up on occasion in the middle of the night. However she cries for about ten minutes and then puts herself back down. I can work with this!

Crying

Been acting a little fussy but with good reason.

Social

This weekend B headed out to a birthday party on Saturday and a Super Bowl party on Sunday. (We won $70!) She also had a birthday breakfast with her grampa for his 60th birthday!

Milestones

Dada taught B how to give high fives. She's still practicing but it's pretty cute. Also she's been giving the biggest, wettest open mouth kisses and even though she's sick I've been loving it! Totally worth whatever cold I get from her. :)

Post partum

I've been busy cutting, tracing, and painting for Blair's first birthday party. I'm pretty pleased with the results thus far but still have quite a bit more decorating to go! Above is a picture of my friends and me at a Super Bowl party.

First Bike Ride

Friday, February 1, 2013

Yesterday M hooked Blair's bike seat up to his bike and we took her for a spin around the block. She was so cute with her pink helmet. I thought she would hate the helmet but she didn't seem to mind. Guess Mama and Dada have to start wearing theirs to set a good example. I hate setting a good example. Meaning, helmets make my hair look bad :(.

complete with snot nose

off we go!

I can definitely see bike rides to our local Golden Spoon in the near future! Especially with the 75 degree weather planned for this weekend. Life. Is. Good.
