That's sick

Friday, November 30, 2012

Yesterday was a pretty yucky day at the Bushman household. M stayed home sick and slept the entire day and B wasn't feeling too hot either (this may explain yesterday's melt down during the Christmas card pictures). I'm not sure what was up with B but she had a clogged nose and a fever :(. Some of my friends thought these symptoms were teething related since she was still eating, sleeping, and playing. Either way I felt bad for my sweet girl. At one point while running errands she said "mmmaaaammmaaa" in her car seat. Oh man, did my heart melt! I parked the car and crawled into the backseat and nuzzled my sweet babe.

Still playin with her toy like a champ
Aside from being sick, M was quite the crafter for me this week. I told him that I wanted two wreaths for our front door but was bummed to find most wreathed are $100 a pop! He took initiative and created two beautiful wreaths for about $15 each! Behold...

First there was nothing
Then pine cones and leaves
Then berries and sticks
Tada!
M also had the great idea to extend our Christmas card holder since we never have enough room for all our cards. What can I say? We have lots of friends! ;) I wanted to buy a new one (that's my solution to everything) but Matt's burlap ribbon idea was much cheaper.

Lastly, I added a little flair to our dining room.

I'll post on our mantel and trees later (meaning they aren't ready yet). Ahhhh I just love Christmas time!

This weekend we are attending a friends first birthday and Matt's work party. Also I'm hosting a small food party...all the same day! Matt's party is super fancy so I need to bust out some old prom dress. No joke. Can't wait to share it all with you! Have a great weekend.

Christmas card recap

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Yesterday we attempted our Christmas card pictures. I say attempted because B peatered out pretty quickly during our session. Doesn't she know I live for the perfect Christmas card picture? :) Apparently not. However I trust in my BFF and her skills as a photographer. Here is a sneak peak from the iPhone...

As you can see this was the end of our day since her head band is around my wrist and her shoes are in Matt's pockets...
Earlier in the morning we went for a walk with some mom friends from church. B got to hang with her friend Charlotte. Aren't they cute?

Shoe challenge: my favorite shoes in my closet by far!

Oh, and B just wanted to say hi and show you that she can still squeeze fit into the sink for tub time. Hash tag lazy mom.

Oh, how I love her...

Ombré nails how to

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

When I went to San Jose to visit my bests I mentioned that my friend Chelsea did my nails. Well I'm here to show off her trick for ombré nails. I chose three subtle colors and one pop of glitter for my ring fingers.

Step one: buff nails

Step two: paint lightest color on base

Step three: paint glitter nail

Step four: paint sponge all three colors and roll across nail

Step five: add top coat...this is the best one EVER

Step six: clean up edges with make up brush and remover

Yay! Now you have pretty ombré nails in time for the holidays! Today we are taking our Christmas card photos with the lovely Carrie johnson at a local Christmas tree farm. Can't wait to see how they turn out! Oh, and this time I will plan our outfits more than five minutes in advance. ;)

Tasty Tuesday caramel apple cheesecake bars

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Alright you're in for a treat...literally. This is my all time favorite dessert. The caramel apple cheesecake bars with streusel topping. It's perfect for fall and winter and best when served warm with some vanilla ice cream. I made it last night for some lucky people in our Bible study. If you read Gods word you will be blessed with treats. Just kidding.

Motherhood Mondays

Monday, November 26, 2012

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. B had a good day and was a total trooper as we paraded her around town. She even had her first taste of mashed potatoes. She wasn't too sure about them and made some pretty funny faces but I'm sure one day she will realize how tasty they are!

Health

I think we are back into teething this week. Lots of chewing and gum smacking. But where are the teeth? We gave her celery sticks and carrot sticks to chew on and she loved it! Also I mentioned she had been constipated but man did I clear that up with the advice of a nurse. She said peaches, prunes, apricots, and pears. She also said to feed her only green veggies. We followed her advice and voila! Poopy diapers...yay! ;)

Sleep

Still battling the 5:30 am wake up call. Last night we stayed out late at church and she went to bed at 7:45. Since I'm writing this at 10:45 pm I can't tell you if she slept in or not. I'm hoping she does because I'm up late (hey this is late for me!). Lately if I'm lucky she's been waking at 6 and then we play for a while and go for a run. By the time we get back she is ready for her first nap around 9am. Usually I get an hour and a half nap out of her. Then she takes her next nap at about 1 for an hour. She varies with her late afternoon nap. Sometimes she takes one, sometimes not depending on what were up to.

Diet

Still nursing like a champ. In the morning when she wakes she takes both sides which means I'm not pumping anymore. This saves me time and since I'm home with her I don't really have to stress about having a big milk supply. This week she ate turnips and loved them (big surprise). She also is eating small pieces of food (not puréed).

Social

She was quite social this weekend with thanksgiving. She got to meet some of her cousins for the FIRST time! Here she is meeting Annie for the first time. Love! They had so much fun :)

Crying

Once we got the constipation out of the way she hasn't been crying when pooping. But man was she MAD when she was stopped up. I felt so bad for her because I could tell she was hurting. :( She also cries when I lay her down to be dressed or changed on her changing pad. She's been doing this forever but I always forget to mention it. You would think she would like getting a clean diaper but who knows... Other than that she still only cries when overtired around her bed time. Oh, or if a sudden noise startles her (like Bella barking).

Milestones

Eating chunks of food like avocado and cantaloupe. Drinking from a cup. Saying MAMA intentionally! Yay! It's funny because I noticed that she says Dada when happy and Mama when she's unhappy. Hmmmmm...

Post partum

Well this may be TMI but my cycle is back and running. Happy thanksgiving to me. Sigh. I had really been enjoying my 18 month streak without it.

Happy turkey day!

Thursday, November 22, 2012

I thought this outfit was pretty cute when I bought it online but to say that B hated it is an understatement. The glitter was super scratchy on her double chin and she cried so much I ended up ripping it off. Now we're left with a red onesie and a happy happier baby. :)

Maybe I should learn that planning the holiday around Blair's outfit/photo opportunity doesn't work (insert Halloween mishap here). Regardless she'll be lookin cute today as we all eat turkey. :) happy thanksgiving everyone!!!

Burlap Banner

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

To say I procrastinated on this project is an understatement. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I just created this last night. Better late than never right? I've been eyeing these banners on Pinterest for months and had extra burlap left over from a bridal shower I threw over a year ago for my brothers wife. Here is my finished product...

Step one: make banner on card stock on cricut. Then trace on burlap.
Cut out banner
Put glue dots on letters and stick on.
Iron any wrinkled flags before glueing letters.i just had a few.
Fold the top over and place ribbon inside. Punch brads through to secure.
Iron tops of each flag.
Hang on mantel
Use the extra to make one for your parents house :)
Wear a very boring outfit because its too hot for sweaters.
Gold flats
Again very uninspiring. B wouldn't stop waving at herself.
My comfy mom shoes.
I had so many errands to run this week my outfits clearly suffered. I better step it up for thanksgiving! Lots of baking to do today. Have a great thanksgiving everyone!
