If you have been in or seen our kitchen you know why... there are exactly 35 cupboards and 25 drawers that will need painting. That's 60 total! Yes, we are all sorts of crazy but now is the best time to do it because a) we only have one kid b) I'm not prego and the can help with the painting and c) it's not over 100 degrees in the garage. The starts have aligned and it's cabinet painting time! ;)
We used Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformations after reading a few DIY blogs including Young House Love. Before...
After...
As always I think it looks better in person. It breaks up all the tan of the walls and floor. My next task is to remove that wall paper and paint some wide neutral stripes and then spray paint that mirror a muted gold...so glam! Here is what I'm thinking for those stripes...
What do you think? Also, should I use the same neutral as what is already on the wall or do a different shade? I need some expert advice for that one. M says different but I'm not sure. Maybe a taupe-ish shade and creamy white? Well it's back to painting for me! Happy Tuesday!
Looks so good!! And that's definitely an undertaking, so many cabinets! Can't wait to see how they turn out, makes me want to get going on our next project (whitewashing our fireplace). You asked about paint, will you be changing that color you have or working w it??
ReplyDeleteworking with it... our whole house is painted that color and as much as i would love a soft gray M would have a coronary if i mentioned repainting... ;)
DeleteIt looks awesome!! I think the stripes would look really good there :)
ReplyDeleteHuge improvement! Love the big stripes. I think if you want it to be more of a focus wall you should do a different color. If you want it to just sort of blend, do the same neutral thats already there. Creamy white would be pretty with it. Check out Behr's magnolia blossom. Its a really pretty, buttery white. I just used it in my daughters room with gold chevron stripes. If you want it to be really subtle you could even get the same color in two different finishes (eggshell and satin).
ReplyDeleteSo fun, I wish I lived closer so I could come 'play'! I love DIY house reno's!
good ideas! i would like it to be a focus wall but that scares hubby so we're going with neutral stripes. thanks for the paint suggestion...i'll have to check out your daughter's room! i love playing DIY house too! It makes me giddy :)
DeleteIt looks GREAT! Better than great even! I love white cabinets. 60 cabinets will be a lot of work, but imagine how great it's going to look when it's done!!
ReplyDeletethats what i keep telling myself...thanks!
DeleteTurned out beautiful! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThe cabinets look great and I love the plan to do the stripes!
ReplyDeleteThose cabinets look great!! We painted our kitchen a few years ago but did not do a quality job. Hope to learn from yours so we can do better in our bathrooms and future home!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks SOOO good!! And the kitchen will look amazing too once you get it done...I smell a weekend project in the works! And the stripes will look so good...I think you can go either way. But a slightly darker beige might make the wall pop a little more!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! What color for the Rust-Oleum did you use?
