Remembering Mt. Langley

Thursday, July 7, 2011

Well today is the day! Well actually I will be hiking half dome on Saturday but today we leave home to venture up to Yosemite for four days. I am definitely a little apprehensive but excited as well. Just recently I have been introduced to backpacking and I love it! I love being outside, getting exercise, showing off my hiking prowess (ok not really) and, scarfing down those delicious (hey everything tastes good when you're backpacking) freeze dried meals. I thought I would share some photos of the last couple of backpacking trips I went on for good measure. Can't wait to show you the view from the top when I get back! PS This is also on my Summer Bucket List 2011.

Sierra Nevada's

Cottonwood Lake #5 (I hiked that beast!)

top of that last peak shown
top of Mt. Langley 14,000 feet! Mt. Whitney is 14,500 (about). don't let the smile fool you...i was not feeling stellar due to the altitude.

Mt. Whitney is in the background

this is what I imagine the moon looks like. waaaaay above treeline. this was by far the worst part...one step up the sand and three sliding back down...

 we made it!

 i climbed down this!

almost back to base camp and i was stinkin' tired.

my favorite thing...dinner keeping me warm in the sleeping bag. :)

And this my friends is why I am not your average girl. :)
