Playroom Organization

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Side note: I may have eaten Blair's whole bag of happy yogi's while writing this. We're on a "no dessert" kick over here and I decided baby yogurt melts don't count as dessert. So I ate the Whole. Dang. Bag.

I've said it before, It takes a lifetime to make a house a home. There is always something that needs tweaking and it's never quite perfect! But that's part of the fun! Well, we're far from the "we only need tweaking" camp. Hence, the playroom. We still need a kid-friendly couch, a media cabinet that doesn't look like it belongs in Barbie's house (it's pint sized), a lamp, and a fun rug (I have a rug obsession. This is not M's favorite quality about me.) Buuuuut, we did get two awesome bookshelves at the lovely Costco recently and I thought I would show them to you.

because i was a teacher i've got books for days...

books on top, organized toys on bottom

i chose a simple font. not  a huge fan of anything too "kiddish"

annnnnd i'm still working on this gallery wall.
I did make some progress on the playroom gallery wall today while B unloaded almost all the books from the shelves. :) I'm going to incorporate some of the pictures that we used at her birthday party on the gallery wall as well (what else do you do with poster sized prints of your child?!).

I can't wait to find a bigger couch for this space so this one can go in our bedroom. Lots to do but I'm content in waiting for the right items to pop up. That's part of the fun of it, right?!

"who ate all my yogi's? I thought I could trust you!?"

(Update: um, actually M took the bag from me during the middle of my post and proceded to finish the bag off for us. Guilty!)

St. Patrick's Day Recap

Monday, March 18, 2013

I hope you all had a great St. Patrick's day! We made a traditional corned beef with baby carrots, potatoes, and cabbage. Our old neighbors came over with their two kiddos and we had a lot of fun!

loves me, loves me not

In between writing thank you cards I've been doing a couple little projects. One thing I like to do is save cards. Instead of throwing all of B's 1st birthday cards away I bound them together to make a little "book." It was super easy and I think she will enjoy looking at them as she gets older.

hole punch all the cards

arrange them in size

bind with ribbon
What do you do with all of your old cards? Trash (gasp!)? Or do you stow them away in a box?

I also finally had time to update our mantel for Easter. (By the way how do you spell "mantel"? I've seen it "mantle" and "mantel." Sigh.)

the calla lilies are from our yard. we transplanted them from our old house and the lived!

He is Risen print HERE. Wreath from JoAnns.

Blair was thrilled with the end result. :/

I mean she REALLY loved it!
For some reason while I was doing this she had a total melt down. We actually had a really fun day yesterday but this was not part of it. Here is the proof that she loves me...

that look!

i pushed her in her new swing

i bought her some new summer pjs because hello! it's in the 90's here!
This weekend we are hanging around home baby-proofing I'm sure. We've got gates to install, cupboards to lock, and a pool to fence. Well the last one isn't happening this weekend but soon. What are you guys up to?

Easter 'Fits

Thursday, March 14, 2013

Does anyone else besides me and my college roomies shorten their words? Hence the blog title "Easter 'Fits?" Short for outfits. Obnoxious, I know. But kinda fun. :)

For once I feel like the boy outfits were cuter than the girls! One day if I do have a boy I will embrace it! Here are my top choices below...

all apparel from baby Gap (where else?) basket from pottery barn kids
and for the ladies...

all apparel from baby Gap except dress (target), basket from pottery barn kids

I actually bought B that Easter basket you see above because she got a gift card to PB for her birthday. I decided against the traditional wicker basket because you can really use it for only one thing...Easter. I feel like this basket is more versatile and can hold other things year round. Plus, it matches the colors of her room. Added bonus!

This year for Easter we are going to the country club (pinkies up! jk.) again since M's gramma invited us (score!). I'm already salivating over the thought of all the delicious food. That means I need to find a forgiving dress so I can eat till my heart's content. :) I. Love. Food. Speaking of, I gave up dessert for ten whooping days before I go to Vegas. That's right, Vegas! I'm going with a group of girlfriends and I. Can. Not. Wait! Time for some poolside lounging for sure. :) Can you say Vegas and Easter in the same paragraph? I just did.

her new ikat dress :)

it's a dress i promise...

SO big!
Thanks to Carrie for sending over a few preview shots! I'm definitely taking a break from all the crazy crafting I did for this party. Is it weird of me to consider selling all of the things I made? (banners, glitter dots, high chair decor, etc?) It's not like I'm going to do a party theme repeat, right?! I'm highly considering this option... I hate seeing things go to waste!

And the Winner is...

In other news, I am holding off on giving more party details till I get the professional shots from my BFF who shot B's birthday bash.
