Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Friday, February 17, 2012

In my biased opinion I would have to say Blair is the fairest of them all. :) Last weekend at my baby shower my aunt gave me a mirror that her mom (my grama) had given her when she was young. The tag on the back was dated 1977 which counts as vintage to me! I love the femininity of the mirror with the thin bow on the top but the color was not going to work in B's room. I gave M the task of painting it white. Here are the results of our mini DIY below:

before: a brassy gold finish
after: a clean white finish
I can't wait to put this up in B's room. I'm thinking she is destined to be a girly-girl which is just fine by me! Have a great weekend. I know I will because I have Friday and Monday off! Add that to reasons why I teach... :)

Nursery Rhyme

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Here is a little sneak peak at B's current nursery. I say current because escrow has been kind to us...but that's all I'm saying till we get those keys and it's official! It's possible that B never sets foot in here but we had no way of knowing what God had in store for us so we went full speed ahead (minus the paint)!

love this serena and lily pillow (discontinued) and our new curtains (that matt will have to take down if we move...oops)

her pink diaper accessory holder. complete with burt's bees baby products!

this frame used to be filled with beach pictures. i can't wait to put a large photo of B in the middle after she is born.

got the changing pad cover after this photo was taken. hair pretties will be relocated to B's own bathroom if we move.

paper mache B made by my friend carrie for my shower

B pillow from serena and lily, blanket from etsy, and mobile by me! still waiting on the bumper and crib skirt...

a picture of B's sister :) and a beautifully scented candle by lollia complete with a crystal!
Originally I wanted her walls to be a very very faint pink called "shell." However, the oatmeal color we have currently (and in our possible new home) is growing on me. It takes away some of the "sweetness" which can be overwhelming in a girls room. I'm still deciding if I will paint her new room or not. Thoughts?

I'm hesitant to include the following photos but excitement is getting the best of me. If we move, here is B's future nursery (but if not, I'm content with where we are!)...

love the chair rail and crown molding. but as convenient as a fan is...it's got to go. i hate how it looks. plus we already ordered this chandelier!

her closet is on the left when you walk into the bathroom. it's a jack and jill bath so she will eventually share it with baby # 2!
The count down is on! She is going to be here before I know it and I just can't wait! So much is happening in our lives right now with a baby on the way and a potential move across town but I know God is in control. And I totally trust Him with His timing. He has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams and I hope that I am able to humbly glorify Him every day. I have learned a lot during this "house-hunting" journey but ultimately learned it is His timing, not mine. His plan, and not my own. I know that He will take care of all the upcoming details (finding the perfect renters for our current home, gathering friends/family to help us move etc.) so I refuse to lie awake at night worrying and it feels so good to have peace. He is good!

Happy Valentine's Day loveies! I for one have always loved V Day. I love pink, chocolate, glittery mushy cards, jewelry, etc. I have never been a V Day "hater" or had a anti V day party but to each her own! This year M and I are going super low key. The budget has been spent on baby B and is dogeared for potential expenditures on our possible new home. M is planning on making me one of my favorite meals; risotto with shrimp/artichoke hearts/onion skewers. I can't wait! I decorated the house for our date night... ( and may have totally cheated  because I stole these decorations from one of my showers...)

lanterns sprinkled with glitter

a DIY vase made with lace and spray paint

glittery Val Day wreath

It's a girl! oh, and it's v day

our neighbor zeke out on his bike...i offered him a balloon. he later brought over homemade sugar cookies in the shape of hearts with his mama

chocolately goodness
*** all decorations created by my lovely sis-in-law Tiffany, whom I totally ripped off for this post. Thanks Tiff! I hope you all have a romantic Val Day and get swept off your feet!

Maternity Mondays: Week 32

Monday, February 13, 2012

Yesterday M asked me if I need to keep track of how many ounces baby Blair eats a day and at what time. I said "yes" because I'm sure that I should be keeping a very detailed calendar of her schedule (poops, sleeps, shots etc.). And while this was a good reminder of what's to come it definitely freaked me out a bit... I have NO idea what I'm doing! Agh! Since it will make me feel better I'm going to list the things I must do before this baby comes...

1. re-read Baby Wise
2. Watch the dvd called "The Happiest Baby on the Block"
3. get my act together and write out a birth plan. (is there a template for this?)
4. finish packing my hospital bag (B's is done. mine consists of lollipops and a designer hospital gown a friend got me as a gift. I probably need more than this for my stay...)
5. get my maternity leave all squared away ( i am dreading this. M can't help and it is SO confusing!)

Well I don't know if making that list made me feel better or worse. Number 5 totally stresses me out. But below is my growing bump with a sweet baby girl inside and this makes me happy. :)

saved the balloons from shower # 1 :)
When I first saw this photo I said "Dang my hair looks good!" M noticed the drain in the shower hasn't needed to be cleaned out lately so I guess I'm not shedding as much as normal...nice! It will be a sad day when it all falls out after delivery. Boo.

AWKWARD
- finding out I have gained 25 whopping pounds...WHAT?!?! Doctor says I need to stop eating cereal for breakfast and no more carbs for dinner. Waaaa! I was loving my cereal and pasta. Back to oatmeal and veggies. Dang it.
- a homeless guy at the grocery store thought he was funny when he pushed out his pelvis and imitated my walk. I did a very fake laugh and then immediately checked myself out in the freezer section to see if he was justified...not even! how rude!
-Blair finding my ribs and me yelping at odd times throughout the day. surely my students think I'm losing it...
- I refuse to admit I have an outtie. the thing is that my belly button still isn't out. the best way to describe it is a "volcano." it's peaking around the edges but still has a deep hole! M says I'm trying to justify...

AWESOME
- having two amazing baby showers this weekend! I received some great things and can't wait to share them with you this week!
-feeling so much movement inside! Blair is really a wiggle worm lately and I have loved feeling her "roundness."
- having two more weeks left in escrow...keep praying! it looks like this one may "stick!"
-our garage being filled to the brim with baby stuff. it's awesome because it means we received tons of great things from family and friends...so blessed!
- having over 100 followers...yippee! now how am I going to celebrate that...

a guest at my baby shower addressed my card like this. i loved it! :)

Runner's High

Friday, February 10, 2012

Have you ever done a mini triathlon? I participated in one with my Bible study a couple of years ago at Disneyland. It was a very fun event and after baby come I want to start training for a half marathon. I love running and the farthest I have gone in one time was 10 miles. If I can do that then I can run 13 right? Ultimately I would LOVE to do a full one but I really think my knees would break. Maybe it's just an excuse...the hubs really wants to do one so maybe we will together? I DID just get my awesome BOB jogging stroller in the mail this week... Have you done a half or full marathon? Suggestions? Here are some pics from the mini tri I did...

So who's doing it with me? :) I am super excited for this weekend because I am having not one but two baby showers! Yippee! Last night I did some more baby laundry and I still think it's fun. :) I also packed Blair's hospital bag and M cleaned some of the books I brought home from my classroom. Who's a type A planner? ME!

PS I have 99 followers! I need to think of something special for when I hit the big 100! Today is the 100th day of school in my first grade classroom. We are having a party and wouldn't it be extra fun if I got 100 followers today! Call your friends...I need ONE more!

Gimme Some Love

Thursday, February 9, 2012

If I didn't have two baby showers this weekend (and I'm glad I do!) then I would be whipping up some Valentine's Day crafts for my boo. Last year I made a very cute banner for our mantel that I can't seem to locate this year. :( Might just have to create a new one this weekend in between showers. :) I heart Val day and everything that comes along with it. I don't think I've ever had a bad Valentine's Day which may be why I adore it so much. Here are a few things I found that I'm smitten over...

a cute and classy Val Day banner
baby love...so posing Blair like this!

the prettiest cake ever

maybe we can try this pose when my belly isn't in the way...cute!
