Separation Anxiety

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

There was no way I was in the mood to "work it" yesterday. Yesterday was another "first" for B and Mama. It was the first time I left her with someone other than family. I signed up to be in a Bible study one morning a week and they provide Bible class for children as well. I swear B knew I had something planned for the day because she was cranky all morning while I tried to get us ready and out the door by 8:45. I chalked it up to teething and gave her some teething tabs along with Tylenol because it was so unlike her to be cranky in the morning.

The children's program she is in is WONDERFUL and the women who take care of the babies love them oh so much but B didn't care. The fact is they weren't Mama. I really didn't think I would have a hard time leaving her but I did. Especially since she was having such a rough morning to begin with. I made it out the door without a tear but once I turned the corner I couldn't help myself. I would say "I don't know who cried more, me or her." But I know the answer to that...HER. While I did definitely cry, she won the prize. She pretty much cried for the whole two hours she was there. Poor girl.

My mom is in the Bible study as well and checked on her while I was in my class and said "She is crying off and on, but she's fine." Translation: She hasn't stopped crying and is TICKED. Later I found out she was so mad in fact that she wouldn't even take her bottle. :( Missing Mama and hungry? No bueno.

So, next Tuesday we will be at it again. I could go in and nurse her half way through but I think it would make things worse for her. I never wanted to have a "Mama's girl" in this sense and here we are. Everyone says she will learn to love it. I sure hope so. This Sunday I also plan on leaving her in the Sunday school class. Talk about jumping in with two feet. I just think the longer I wait the harder it will be when we decide to leave her. So for us it's now or never..

I'm sure that Satan was attacking me yesterday morning. Wanting me to stay at home and say B was having a tough day so I couldn't make it. But I'm not going to let him win. I even caught myself threatening him as I walked out the door this morning. Telling him he wouldn't take this Bible study away from me. So take that Mr. Devil... this Mama ain't backin' down no matter how much her babe begs her to.

Clearly she has recovered from her traumatic day. Always happy to take a bath (and chew her feet).

First Food

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

As promised, B had her first round of (almost) real people food! She enjoyed herself very much and was leaning into each bite. She thought blowing bubbles into her cereal was fun and was quite a mess by the end. Plus, Mama wasn't so good with her aim.

I went with rice cereal mixed with breast milk for her first food. B likes it not too runny, not too firm, but juuuuuust right. I mentioned that I wanted to do avocado but the doctor didn't advise it and I'm pretty chicken when it comes to ignoring advice from her doctor. I'm sure this will change once I have my second child...

M did take a video but hasn't been able to edit it yet so that will make an appearance later.

Last, no one has forgotten what happened this day 11 years ago. I would like to thank our troops for fighting for and protecting our country. America is the land of the free because of you. I pray that God blesses those who are serving our country and keeps them safe. God bless the USA!

Motherhood Monday's

Monday, September 10, 2012

We had a super productive weekend which translates into "M was a good sport and did everything I asked." We M hung a mirror in the entry way and a picture over our piano. He took out a leaf in our dining table, did TONS of yardwork (and it was WORK since it was so hot!), installed some more pulls for our drawers, and re-hung our diplomas in the office. We were beat! Thanks to B's legit napping skills we were able to be productive.

Last Wednesday B had her six month appointment. Here are the details below...

Head Circumference: 44.5 cm, 95%
Weight: 18 pounds 100% 85%
Height: 25 1/4 inches 30%

This appointment was special because Daddy got to come! It was the first time he was able to join us and it also happened to be the least amount of crying from B...coincidence? I think not...

weight
18 whopping pounds! Home girl is a TANK. I was actually surprised to see that there are other babies that weigh more than her! Who are these kids?!

on our way to the doctor...naively happy
health
Overall she's thriving! The doctor did say that if her head continues to grow and jump percentiles that a CT scan will be ordered. But I'm not worried because big heads run in Matt's family... (sorry gramma!)

waiting our turn
checking herself out
lovin the mirror
sleep
She goes to bed at seven and wakes up around 7. Which would be awesome...if she weren't also still waking up around 2:30 to eat. Doctor says to let her cry because she is big old enough to survive the night without food. This is no fun for us though because she cries for an HOUR. And if she's crying, I'm awake. I'm thinking about giving her just one side so I can still pump in the morning and use some of that milk for her rice cereal.

on our way home from the doctor...no bow and no pants...
clothes
Depends on the brand but some six month, some nine, and this weekend a 12 month!!! I died.

social
Tomorrow B goes to her first bible class and will be cared for by someone other than family. Pray for her me.

diet
Milk and cereal, cereal and milk (you tube inside joke). shes DIGGIN her rice cereal!

nom nom nom
crying
Mostly only when she is tired or wakes up from a nap. Or when I ignore her in the middle of the night...sigh.

milestones
Sitting up! While I won't be putting her on our tile and walking away anytime soon, she is getting much better on the carpet with mama's supervision. First foods and "kissing" are things she has been loving lately.

sitting with Dad's hand ready for backup
post partem
Started half marathon training. I wish the humid heat would leave already. M, B and I ran six miles last Saturday and were pretty tired. Poor M pushed her heavy bum the whole time and was nice and sweaty by the beginning end!

Picture Perfect

Friday, September 7, 2012

In August we had our pictures taken by Haley Ryan. Here are a few of my favorites. There are a ton more but I gotta spread out my blogging material, ya know? :)

Hope you have a great weekend! We are staying home and will be feeding B her first solids. See you next week!

Thursdays Things for Baby

Thursday, September 6, 2012

B had her six month check up yesterday and is doing just great! I'll be detailing her visit on Monday but the doctor did give her the green light for solids. While I had hoped he would say avocado, sweet potatoes, and bananas were great choices for her first foods, he said to stick with rice cereal, oatmeal, oatmeal with banana, and then wheat cereal first. Rice cereal it is then! Doctors orders! Here are a few more things I've purchased for her big day...

Baby bjorn dish made easy for baby with contoured sides.

Thought I would throw this in for good measure. These teethers measured up to their claims. B could easily hold them and loves gnawing on them.

This teether is great because it vibrates when B chomps down! Must feel good on her sore gums.

Once she polishes off all of her grains I'm going with sweet potatoes! Doctor also said veggies before fruits (even though I read this isn't necessary anymore). I'm a rule follower so veggies it will be!

Work it Wednesday

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Received my Stella and Dot necklace in the mail yesterday...love it! There was no way I was paying full price and was pretty pleased with myself when I found it on sale!

Motherhood Mondays ( on Tuesday)

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend. We had a great time at the beach. Lots of sun and lots of family!

B is 25 weeks old...officially 6 months today! Tomorrow she has her six month check up.

Weight

My guess is around 17 pounds. Tomorrow will tell exactly how much!

Health

she was pretty proud of her mess...
I still can't decide if she is teething yet or not. She seems very drooly and chews HARD on everything. This weekend she especially enjoyed chewing on her uncle Kevin's fingers!

Sleep

On Sunday night B slept through the night! I was amazed (and my shirt was soaked)! B slept through the night for about a week when she was three months so I'm trying not to get too excited this time but I'm secretly hoping that this time is for real! Oh and yesterday she took a three hour nap! That is unheard of for her!

Clothes

I'm still stuffing her into six month clothes but we are fast approaching nine month clothes or at least 6 -12 month.

Social

We have a doctor appointment this week and plan on seeing both grandparents. The usual :)

Diet

high chair test run...it's a go!
100% breastmilk. I'm hoping the doctor gives us the go ahead for solids. If that is the case she will be trying her first foods this Saturday so the family can watch.

Crying

tired of vacation
Quite a bit yesterday! I blame it on her lack of schedule at the beach. Which means her naps were slim to none. Which leads to a lot of crying. :(

Milestones

Sleeping through the night? Maybe? Oh and sitting up! She is so so close to not needing supervision. And she's pretty darn cute when she does it. :)

Post partum

This week I officially start training for my half marathon in November. Four miles three times a week and a long run on the weekend. Not too worried for next weekend. It's six miles. I got that. :)

OH! And vote HERE for Blair to be the next Gerber Baby! You need facebook to participate.
