Janie and Jack

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

While I was pregnant I had some wonderful friends and family members who bought B some adorable things from Janie and Jack. I hadn't heard of the company yet but quickly fell in love. I bought some great things there that were on mega-sale below

originally 36, purchased for 12!

originally 80 (ridic), purchased for 18!

originally 34, purchased for 10
If you can't tell I was pretty pleased with my steals. M wasn't as impressed...

Here are some of the other items I really wanted but couldn't justify...

love the harbor!

the perfect summertime halter

the bow!

both tops with these shorts

totally silly but would be so cute in a photo shoot...

this was so precious in person
Tomorrow I've got some updates to show you around the house. No big plans today. B has been waking up twice (ACK!) during the night which is super frustrating since she was sleeping through the night... Also lately she has been waking up mid-nap in the afternoon and refusing to go back down unless she is with me. So, I decided to put my own selfish desires aside (like doing laundry and actually getting stuff done) and just be with her. I know I won't regret it looking back. Whoever says, "I wish I hadn't napped with my baby so much."? Plus the extra Zzzz's aren't too shabby.

So I'm a little late on this post but I saw this on pinterest and have been wanting to re-create it. Finally, something I "pinned" that I actually did...

Super cute, right? Here is my version below. Can't wait to keep doing this each month! Matt did the whole thing for me; I just supplied the text :).

This weekend we went out to Temecula to check out a pool table we were thinking about buying. Then we realized we have a baby, not a bachelor pad and opted out. While out there I managed to talk M into going shopping at JANIE and JACK. Um, hello adorable! I was swooning over all their adorable clothes! I hit up the sales rack since I wasn't down to drop $50 on a blouse and shorts (babies really do grow out of stuff crazy fast!). I can't wait to show you what I got for B (and what I wanted to get) tomorrow.

We also hit up Home Goods (loooove that store) and got a couple things for the home. We would have gone a bit more crazy but we had my sedan and couldn't quite fit the entry table and mirror we wanted in the trunk...Next weekend we're takin' the truck!

A First Time for Everything

Friday, July 13, 2012

Well last night was a night of firsts. B and I spent our first night away from home without Daddy. We stayed at the beach and he went back home to work. Since I always write my blog post the night before I can't tell you yet how it went but I can tell you that the electricity was out from 8-11 pm. Awesome. So that meant that B had to tough it out without her white noise machine and I had to rely on my hearing as a baby monitor. As of now (it's 9pm) so far so good.

Yesterday my mom and I went shopping at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. The weather was really weird with what seemed like a tropical storm. It even rained on us! We went to Lululemon, Anthropologie, and other shops and then finished the day off with some of the best fish tacos I have ever had at a bakery of all places! (Pain du Monde).

Today we are just planning on another day at the beach! Gotta love it! We have no big plans for the weekend but may be purchasing a pool table from a friend. M is pretty stoked about the possibility of it! I'm putting the white flag up on this whole issue...

PS we have pretty bad internet down here at the beach but I have lots of blogs that I've been wanting to comment on! Hopefully I can catch up this weekend!

Beach Baby

Thursday, July 12, 2012

We have been having a great time down here at the beach! B has been loving the pool and I have really been enjoying the running trail right next to the beach. Especially since the weather at home has been over 100 degrees and here it's 80 or less!

B has been growing out of her clothes crazy fast! I tried to put a swimsuit on her that she has never worn and it would not fit over her thighs! Story of her life... Dresses are her best bet lately since they don't restrict her thighs. Poor girl. Once she starts moving I'm sure her little rolls will disappear but I'll miss those little guys!

Lunch and dinner dates

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Yesterday was my friend Marie's birthday. Remember the one with the beautiful home I showcased a week ago? Anyway, she had some friends and family over to her home to celebrate and we had a great time! They served wonderful chicken tacos and had amazing desserts! Matt had fun playing croquet with some other daddies while B and I hung out with the mommies and discussed cloth diapers. Good times. :)

I also had the pleasure of eating lunch with my dear teacher friend Letty at the Nordstrom cafe. It's one of my favorite spots and I may have picked up a couple things on the sale rack for B... I'll have to show you those later!

Today I am heading to the beach for the week with my mom and her twin sister. It beats the 100 plus degree weather we are having here!

Mommy fail Monday

Monday, July 9, 2012

Thank you for all the encouraging comments from Friday's post. It took some guts for me to lay it all out there!

We had a great weekend. On Saturday we had a BBQ with some friends at our house and Sunday M's family came over for dinner since we had so much food left over!

I decided I should have "mommy fail monday" on my blog because at least once a week I do something that is worthy of being put in that category. Like yesterday morning. Woke up at 9:40 am to discover the mute button had accidentally been hit on B's monitor. When I looked at her on the screen she was squirming so I went in her room and discovered that she had been crying for a long time (her face was soaked with tears). I have never felt so horrible in my life! I will never know how long she had been crying for but of course I assumed the worst. Then I thought about how she is never going to trust me again (overreacting much?) or want to sleep in her big girl bed again. Sigh. It was bad. But she did sleep in her big girl bed (crib) again last night so I'm hoping her little peanut brain already forgot how bad her mommy was.

PS she was sleeping in her Rock n Play cradle in her room but she is now in her crib. Such a big girl!

This is us enjoying the party at our house on Saturday.

Needess to say M and I turned the volume way up and decided to keep her door open a tad from now on. We made sure to snuggle with her extra yesterday for our goof up. Poor B. Tomorrow B and I are going to the beach for the week with my mom and aunt. It will be a true test to see if I can be a "single mom" while M stays home to work. I may be coming home a little early if it's not going well!
