We've been having a great time down here in Carlsbad visiting my friend Brooke who is pregnant with her first baby! It's been fun reliving the pregnant experience with her and talking all things baby. :) We went for a beautiful run on the beach and enjoyed some time in the sun.

Mommy had two mega fails while packing...forgetting B's swim suit and my bra. Ooops. Good thing I have a friend with a similar shape! Today we are hitting up the baby gap outlet...whoop whoop!

B and I are taking a mini vacation in Carlsbad where my friend Brooke lives for the next two days. We left Daddy at home to take care of business (aka work) and are exciting to enjoy some outlet shopping, beach, and quality friend time! Here are some photos of a snuggle sesh we had at home before we left (read: I have nothing to blog about!).

Also lately B has been waking up in the middle of the night crying. She refuses to go back down till someone soothes her. I'm beginning to wonder if Toy Story is giving her nightmares?! Hey, Sid can be pretty intimidating! However, she has dropped her afternoon nap which has caused her to sleep in till 7:30...hallelujah!!! 

This weekend I was able to check off one thing from my bucket list... Painting our media built-ins! I'm so happy with the results. It really updates our home. We're not completely finished with it as we want to add a shelf on the bottom so the TV sits a bit higher. I'm also anxious to change the pulls on the drawers. They are too modern as is and I would like to get some rubbed bronze "cup pulls."

Paint color is "creamy white" by Behr. Now I'm all amped on painting all the other oak surfaces in our house! Matt is not so excited about this... :)

M and I had a super productive weekend which I love (him, not so much)! One of the projects we  worked on was painting our media built-ins a creamy white. We're almost done and I can't even wait to show it to you this week. It seriously looks bomb in my opinion. I'm not sad to see the oak wood gone and I really feel like it updates the whole look of our family room.

Because of our productiveness that led to a pretty uneventful weekend in the form of pictures. :/ We did have fun hanging out with some friends for a couple potluck dinners and I did happen to stumble upon the Nordstrom Anniversary sale (Ooops). I found a couple things I liked, mostly workout clothes, but I wasn't floored by their selection.

Well, I'm off to get some more painting done while B is sleeping. Bed time is craft time!

 

Yesterday M and Lala came to Blair's last swim lesson (which was really more of a play session). M captured some sweet moments on my iphone and made this sweet little video out of it...hubby's got skills! Whenever he makes these little videos they always pull on my tear ducts heart strings. Don't be led to believe that she only does the "dead man's float" from this video though! Of course on her last lesson she wasn't into performing (c'mon, child!) but she did "swim" underwater 10 feet to me the day before and kicked her little chicken leg! Her instructor said the more she practices at home the better and better she will get. "It's not swim lessons for the babies, it's confidence lessons for the parents!"- Coach Tim. :)

 PS her two favorite coping mechanisms were "sleeping" (above) and trying to roll in circles in the water so I would rescue her. The instructor said I'm not allowed to rescue her when she does that but just direct her head towards me (or the wall). I really learned a lot at lessons and am excited to continue to get her comfortable in the water!

Last night some of my friends and I went to a taping of the show "the X factor" hence the late post! I got home late last night and was too tired to blog. Better late than never! It was WAY more fun than I thought it would be and we had AWESOME seats! We were told to sit up straight and smile and look our best because our mugs were gonna be on tv a lot. I'm secretly hoping that's true! C'mon, what girl doesn't want her one second of fame?! ;)

Since we were on the aisle the judges (Simon Cowell, Kelly Rowland, and Demi Lovato) walked right past us when they entered the studio and I got to shake hands/high five all three! Call me 12 years old but I was pretty starstruck! When the taping was over my face hurt from smiling (hey, I'm good at following directions) but I would totally do it again! The talent was both bizarre and amazing and I can't wait to see it air on September 11/12!

I love it when my blog posts decide to delete themselves (insert sarcasm here)! When I wrote this post last night I mentioned that I found an awesome rug at Target recently for the play room. There are three things I love about this run: the price, the black and white modern print, and the dark color (perfect for hiding little stains!).

Oh and don't worry, B is just enjoying her chapter book here in her big rocking chair. She's patiently waiting for grampa to fix hers (hint hint!).
