Three Months

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

I finally got around to taking B's three month shots (aside from the ones Carrie took) last week. And while she is smiling a lot now, it is still hard to capture it on film! We did get lucky though and snapped a few smiles. Here is our sweet three month old!

so cute! but annoying that the flash was on...

blogger did not want to let me post this right side up!

Such a precious face! I can't wait to post all of her photos after the first year and see how much she changed! Speaking of change, her hair is starting to fall out. I find it in her stroller, on her Boppy, on her bed etc. Is there a blondie in the making? Mama can only hope!

Yesterday I went to the grocery store Sprouts for the first time. I was amazed! They had so much to look at (um hello thousands of vitamins/supplements!). I decided they have an awesome meat and produce department. It's kind of like Trader Joes but bigger. And if you are a gluten free person this is the place to be! So many options! I fell in love with their bulk trail mix selection and candy aisle (of course). Here are some items I picked up.

I could not resist the cuteness that is this bottle of hand soap. I needed some new face wash and the Alba stuff smelled delish and was a great "natural" choice. Oh, and apparently I should start brushing Blair's gums now. I read in a magazine that it gets them used to it so they don't fuss over it when it's time to brush their actual teeth. Who knew? No tooth paste of course yet but I liked this one because it's free of all harmful chemicals. (I'm pretty sure everything in the whole store is).

Today I am meeting up with a mommy friend for lunch (no surprise here). Not much planned other than that! Have a great Tuesday! Oh, those maternity pics I promised will be posted tomorrow!

Mommy Fail

Monday, June 18, 2012

I hope you all had a great weekend celebrating Father's Day! We hung out around the house and had a family BBQ on Saturday followed by another family dinner on Sunday. Those were two of the tastiest meals we have had in a while!

Let me begin by saying maybe I should start a "Mommy Fail Mondays?" On Saturday night my family came over and after B was put to bed we went out to the drive way to check out my parents new car. My dad stayed inside and so I decided to take a cruise around the block with M, my mom and my brother. We were gone no more than five minutes and when we got home we stayed in the car for a while longer and checked out all the features. When we finally went back inside guess who was awake? And NOT happy about it either? Yup, Blair. My poor Dad was upstairs trying to rock and soothe her in her glider but she was FURIOUS! I felt SO bad for both of them. My Dad said she started crying and he went out to get me and the car was gone! He was like, "I didn't know the protocol like if you let her cry or not. But I decided that if you came home and I was just watching TV while she was crying you would be mad so I decided to go pick her up." Haha. Learned my lesson...always leave instruction even for five minutes! For future reference, Dad, we let her cry for five minutes then burp her. If that doesn't do it we let her cry another ten minutes then soothe her. ;)

Tomorrow I plan on showing you the most beautiful maternity photos that my friend Natasha had taken. She's due with her first any day now!

Who's Your Daddy?

Friday, June 15, 2012

Happy first Father's Day, Matt! While this Father's Day is special because it is M's first, I'm sure the ones to come will be more exciting because B will be able to tell him how much she loves him and appreciates him. Right now though that is my job! If I were B here is what I would say...

Dear Daddy-
Happy Father's Day! I love you SO much. From the very beginning of my life you have been there for me. You were there when I was born and every day in the NICU when I needed you the most. You visited me and held me close. You prayed over me so I would heal quickly and showed me what a godly Daddy looks like from the very beginning. Thank you for showing me how to trust Jesus and appreciate his grace.

You always help mommy take care of me and make things extra fun. Even in the beginning when I was a very small baby you helped by feeding me at two am and changing me while Mommy slept. That helped Mommy to be able to take care of me better during the day. I love it when you come home from work and do tummy time with me. I also like it when you talk to me about my day and ask me what I did. I like it when you give me baths and fill up my tub twice just so I can keep playing. (I also like how you never get shampoo in my eyes). I like how you get me dressed (even when you put socks under my sandals...fashion faux pas!) and I like when you play "super baby" with me and fly me across the room.

I can't wait till I get older and you can take me backpacking (Mommy says Half Dome is off limits), camping, bike riding, surfing, and Disneyland! I have so much to look forward to! I love you SO much and I'm pretty sure Mommy does too. :) Happy Father's Day to my amazing Daddy!

Love, Blair

I Love You Boo.

Huntington Beach Part II

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Even though yesterday was overcast at the beach we made up for it with some shopping. :) I am proud to say that I did not buy one thing for myself or B but instead focused on Father's Day items. Mission accomplished...I am officially done buying gifts for my dad, M's dad, and M.

Today I'm heading back to my old neighborhood to visit our neighbors. I'm excited to see them...we miss them so much! Have a great Thursday!

You Gotta Have Friends

Ande and Blair
Yesterday B and I went on our weekly play date with some other mommies. We went out to lunch and B had the blowout of the century. I even quipped before I nursed her, "B always blows out when I nurse her without the boppy..." And low and behold... major blowout. I should have known! So I learned a couple things yesterday

1. always bring extra clothes... for ME (poop ALL over my skirt)
2. baby poop actually can drip
3. restaurant owners would prefer that I carry a dripping pooping baby through their whole restaurant instead of taking care of the problem asap...sigh. I did what I thought was the lesser of two evils.

Despite her mess I still had a great time and when I got home B slept in her swing for two hours! Hallelujah!

I decided that I wanted to keep a monthly journal about B so I can look back and add it to her scrapbook when I get around to it (never!?).

THREE MONTHS
- reciprocating smiles
- lots of talking/cooing
- noticing herself in the mirror
- enjoys looking at other babies (hence above!)
- plays by herself on her play mat for 30 minutes plus
- one overnight feed
- less daytime napping
- enjoys her swing, the pool, baths, walks, being outside, errands, ceiling fans, and anything with contrast

B after she enjoyed a long bath. :)

Today we are going to Huntington Beach again to pick up my brother from his senior trip. Looks like another day of lounging at the beach is in order!

Date Night

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Last weekend M and I went on a real date sans baby! Matt's parents babysat B (and she was good!) while we ventured out to see the movie "What to Expect When You're Expecting" (naturally). I really enjoyed it and could definitely relate! We ate tasty grilled chicken sandwiches for dinner and enjoyed uninterrupted conversation. It was weird! Almost like old times BB (before Blair).

Day Trip: Huntington Beach

Monday, June 11, 2012

On Friday my mom and I dropped my youngest brother off at Huntington Beach for his senior high school graduation trip. We stayed at the Hilton the whole day and lived the good life! We ate lunch by the pool and then laid out for the majority of the day (B slept the whole time!!!). Later we walked to main street and my mom treated us to dinner for two (or three I guess) at Dukes. SUCH a delicious meal! B was awake during dinner but SO content watching the ceiling fans they had going. Fans are totally her thing... she's obsessed with them! It cracks us all up.

don't mind if i do (breast feeding calories are pure joy!)

lattes on the boardwalk (soy milk for me of course)
And we're doing this all over again Wednesday when we go back to pick up my brother. :)

Today my mom and father-in-law are helping me clean out my classroom. Once again I am laid off. We will see if next year I get my job back. This may be a blessing in disguise...
