Maternity Mondays: Week 17

Monday, October 31, 2011

Happy Halloween! What a bummer that it's on a Monday this year, huh? This weekend we carved pumpkins with the family and Matt made the cutest pumpkin ever! Baby girl is on the way!

I had a slight panic attack last Monday when one of the nurses said not to count my chickens before they hatch (meaning Baby girl could be a baby boy). I got all paranoid and scheduled a follow up gender check for Friday. Needless to say she is still a girl and the technician was 100% sure and told me "to buy all the crap I want." :) Matt advised against this. Here she is again! All hamburger and no hot dog. :)

how they tell from that is beyond me...

And I continue to truck along waiting for the next big thing. Baby Girl is the size of my palm this week (from head to bum) and weighs five ounces. She is very active in my tummy, from what I see on the sonogram, and I am just waiting to feel her kick! Sometimes I feel a swirling sensation but that could be a multitude of things (I'm sure you can figure that one out yourself). Patience is a virtue that I do not have!

Here are some facts about Baby Girl...
-she is getting more hair on her head, eyebrows, and lashes
-her heart pumps 25 quarts of blood a day
-she can hear sounds outside my body and some make her jump!
-she exhales amniotic fluid and fat is developing under her skin

Lots of fun things came in the mail this week. :) One being paint swatches from Serena and Lily. We decided on this one. Here is what they look like as dry samples on the wall...

shell pink, the one we chose

juice pink, too bright

I also picked out some lovely items for my parents to wrap for me for Christmas. :) This is typical in my family where nothing can be a surprise since I am picky. I am in love with these Serena and Lily items here, here, and here.

And finally Matt's Aunt Kerri sent us this darling dress from Janie and Jack...to die for! Apparently I need some baby hangers.

Whew, that was a lot of maternity Monday! Have a safe Halloween!

This weekend we are doing our annual pumpkin carving dinner. Which really only consists of my family coming over for dinner and then later sitting around the bonfire carving away. Unfortunately the 43 pound pumpkin we bought below rotted from being in the sun. :( So sad! However my class won a contest at school and our prize is getting to carve a 100 pound pumpkin! (lucky me. not really). I coaxed my dad into coming to my classroom Monday morning to help me carve. :) Yay for having a nice daddy who pities his prego daughter. Here are some pictures of our annual pumpkin carving dinners of years past.

Kiss Me

Thursday, October 27, 2011

I stumbled upon a post from one of my favorite bloggers, A Cup of Jo, yesterday and it sparked an interest in me. She was asking her readers who their first kiss was with, where it happened, and how old they were. As I scrolled through the readers' comments I was actually surprised that I was one of the youngest to have my first kiss! I'll tell you my story if you tell me yours...

THEN
It was January 31st 1998 (pathetic much?!) and I was snowboarding with my now husband. We were in 8th grade so I guess I would have been 13. We had been dating for a little over a month and I was sweating bullets because I knew this moment would come soon! On our last run down the mountain we stopped to rest on the side of a secluded run and BAM! He kissed me! I was nervous and had no idea what I was doing but there was no teeth clanking and I remember I liked it (clearly because we eventually got married!).

NOW
So, what's your story? How old were you? Was it nice or horrible? Can't wait to hear about it!

Work it Wednesday

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

There are all sorts of wonderful things going on here. First my hair...awesome in a pony tail with some amazing roots. Second, the lack of jewelry (I lost my gold watch and cannot recover), and third my laziness in make- up application. All in all this is not my most stellar moment but I still decided to go with it because this is one of my favorite blouses and I'm pregnant, so I'm allowed to be a little lazy, right?! Matt may or may not have asked me if I usually do something more when I go to work (aka my hair and make-up). :) However he does play my blogging games and takes all my pictures so I forgave him!

Don't Loaf Around

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

Every fall when the weather gets cooler I always have a hard time finding shoes that are closed toed, comfortable, give me some height, and not boots (tough criteria huh?). But behold I have found the perfect winter shoe! Last week while reading Lucky magazine I spotted these shoes by Nine West...

I love them for their comfy, chunky heel, and closed toe warmth! So adorable with tights and a skirt! Also perfect with jeans. The best part of all is that they were on sale! Yippee! I have been really good about not purchasing things for me but I couldn't pass these guys up. They were exactly what I have been looking for to get through the winter at work. :) Do you like the heeled loafer look?

Maternity Mondays: Week 16

Monday, October 24, 2011

After I saw this week's picture I told Matt, "Woah! Look at how big my belly is!" And he said, "Yeah, you are full on pregnant!" It's funny though because I don't feel huge until I catch a glimpse of myself in a car window refection (that's right, I'm always checking out my profile now every chance I get!) or try to roll over in bed, which seems like a giant effort now!

had to start taking pictures outside because we're not getting enough light inside anymore!

This week's happenings:

-feeling SO happy still because baby is a SHE! Never gonna get over it...

-decided on a name this week. :) can't decide when to share it...

- stopped picking things up off the floor. I hate doing it. It's uncomfortable and I either use my toes or holler Matt in from the other room. At work I make my students pick everything up. :)

- wondering about the fact that my students' parents still haven't asked me if I'm expecting...they must still think I'm one heck of a beer drinker...

-received some baby stuff in the mail this week that I ordered from Gap and Gilt Group! So adorable, see for yourself!

Aden and Anais swaddle blankets

 reversible hat here

ready for my close-up :) here

lace trim leggings here. I got them in two shades of pink.

lace long- sleeve bodysuit here. I also got it in a darker pink.

 go- girls glittery bodysuit here

go- girls glittery body suit here

And while writing this blog I stumbled upon this...

a cupcake beanie?!?! I have to have this! I slapped this on my registry faster than you can say "bake me a cake as fast as you can!"

Hope that was enough girly baby stuff for you! :) Doctor's appointment today again. Praying that everything is still looking normal and on track. See you tomorrow!

Are You Game?

Friday, October 21, 2011

I got the October 2011 Nordstrom catalog and went crazy with envy over some of their items. I've been known to have a really hard time passing up animal print, namely leopard. (my lunch box is leopard print!) Below are some items that I am obsessing over and just so happen to be maternity friendly! So, who's buying? Are you game? (pun intended).

ok so maybe not that prego friendly but I could wear it under my chest?! :)

also not so friendly

cute anytime!

a scarf always fits!

ok so i really want one of these. i know it is totally over the top but i love it! and it reminds me of the one i wore on a cruise while in alaska here...

speaking of alaska...that's good blogging material there! i better get on that!

This weekend we are home (again!) and I couldn't be happier. :) I plan on nesting my heart out and getting little projects done around the house. Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

Think Pink

Thursday, October 20, 2011

I've been meaning to try the "gradient style" of polishing my nails and after finding out baby B was a girl I decided to go with pink! Despite my gigantic selection of colors I still couldn't get the fade effect quite right but for the first try I was pleased. Here they are...

thumb to pinky: shorts story by OPI, naked by China Glaze, unknown by Essie, pink-ing of you by OPI, cafe forgot by Essie

got this cute diaper wipe/diaper travel kit from a friend in the mail. adore the print!

Have you tried the faded effect on your nails yet?

Little Laundry

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

This is definitely a first for me but last week I did laundry and I LOVED it! You know why? Because it was itty bitty darling little girl clothes! I washed a load of clothes, blankets, socks, etc. that I have accumulated since finding out she was a girl. Am I crazy for loving it? Probably. But wait till it's your turn...you will go gaga over your baby's clothes too I bet!

I'm totally going to add ribbon to the pockets, and hood of that sweatshirt!

had to buy the pink tutu!

Funny story about the Hooter Hiders... my friend Julie has this exact breast feeding cover up and I happened to see it on sale in our neighborhood yard sales. I held it up and shouted to Matt, who had the dog, "Hey remember Julie's Hooter Hider? This is the same one!" Then the woman who was selling the item said to Matt, "Yeah, remember Julie's hooters?" We had a pretty good laugh and she thought she was pretty funny. :)
But speaking of yard sales, I am usually not a frequenter but I totally scored at this last one! I got a Hooter Hider, a nursing pillow called My Brest Friend (harhar), and a Baby Bjorn carrier all for $20! the Baby Bjorn alone is $65! Such a steal. :) I was very impressed with myself! I should have saved this post and called it "thrifty Thursday!" Although this is probably the only time when I will be able to do that. Being registered at Pottery Barn doesn't lend itself to "thriftiness"...

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

I thought I would fill you in on the details from our "sex party." :) Conservatively known as our gender reveal party. :)
we have never had a dishwasher. i went with paper.

martha stewart pom poms!

at the end of the night there were still more boy votes than girl! losers!

girls and boys

critcut banner! Baby B he or she?
Team Blue (how rude!) ;)
Team Pink! uh, and grandma's bright green shirt...
sadly this is the best picture I have of the cake. Someone (ahem, matt) said he got the shot earlier. Boo. It was absolutely adorable, a cute prego chest and tummy wearing a yellow dress! It even had a floral pattern!

Hope you enjoyed the party details! I'm still floating on cloud 9. I'm starting to think I will never come down... Have a great Tuesday!
