Let's talk about sleep. Or the lack of it. I'm thankful that I have already experienced life with a newborn so I had some basis to go off of but with twins there is no such thing as tag teaming. M and I each get a baby instead of trading off with one.
The first few days they were sleeping really well (3-4 hours between feedings) but that didn't last very long. This last week we had days where they were feeding every hour or two. These last couple of days though I think are most indicitive of their sleep pattern. I nurse them at 8 and usually have them all swaddled, burped, and in their jammies by nine. This is when the party starts. They refuse to go down in there beds so we end up wearing them in our Ergos and sleeping in our respective recliners till 11pm when they wake for their next feeding.
After their 11pm feeding they *usually* will go to bed in their rock n plays and wake up around 3, 6:30, and then 8:30. I get up at 7:30 to start getting Blair ready to go to preschool and myself dressed. Sigh. It's a lot but I try to remind myself that it's a season and that these babies are such blessings!
Thankfully I have a lot of help and we hired a nanny part time. I don't know how anyone does it with one set of hands...not possible! My babies love to be worn in their carriers which takes two people. I actually just ordered a double carrier for times when I am by myself (!) so they can both be happy. Being a mom of multiples is not for the faint of heart but God chose me for this job and I know he will give me the strength to get through it!
I can remember being soo tired getting up in the middle of the night at the newborn stage. Good you hired a nanny part-time! Oh and all three are adorable :)
