New Year's Resolutions

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

It's resolution time!!! Clearly this year at the top of my list is to have a baby...that's more of a hope than a resolution though. But because of that desire, all my resolutions stem from that. That should give you more insight into the following...

Drastically change my diet
Whole 30 waldorf chicken salad lettuce wraps (lettuce, celery, raisins, chicken, apples, homemade ranch)

Starting on January 2nd M and I began "Whole 30." In case you live under a rock this is a diet that focuses on eating only "whole foods." No preservatives, preferably organic, and no dairy. Today marks day 5 of our 30 day challenge and so far the eating part of the diet hasn't been so bad...it's the prep work that is killing M (since I don't cook). We are really hoping that this will cleanse my body of any toxins and encourage my reproductive system to get going! I will be posting some of our Whole 30 meals along the way and will for sure give a review on it after a month. We will likely keep this up for more than a month. And let's be real...infertility or not my body could stand to shed a few after the holidays...

Exercise Smarter

Next week I start training with a personal trainer at my gym. No, I'm not trying to get super buff (or super skinny) but I'm hoping he can tone me up. I'm going to tone down the cardio (see what I did there?) and focus more on weights. I mean if I can't be pregnant I may as well look bomb in my bikini...right? Lucky for me I'm a pretty big wuss and my trainers know that. They are sensitive to my situation and are super accommodating...love my gym! Oh and I got these adorable workout pants and I can't wait to rock them!

Stress less

Easier said than done, right? I stress over anything and everything and that is surely not helping my cause. It could be something as stupid as not being able to find my running shoes to something more drastic like not being able to find Blair's blankie. ;) Either way one of the ways I'm going to stress less is by saying "no" to activities that over crowd my schedule. I like impromptu hangouts with friends just as much as the next girl but if it's the day before I leave on vacation I'm going to have to bow out. This, my friends, may also include not blogging five days a week. As much as I love it, coming up with material 5 days a week has its stressful moments. I know you will forgive me in this!

Try Acupuncture

I went to a well respected doctor in Orange County last week for some acupuncture. He had all sorts of odd recommendations (wear socks all the time. only drink warm water. etc.) but I am willing to give it a shot for 3-6 months. I figure it can't hurt and it's not horribly expensive. I also really like that it's natural. I threw my Progesterone out the door (well really it's in the fridge) and am going to see what magic he can work with his herbs and needles. Call me crazy! (or desperate?!).

PS He gave me other diet recommendations on top of Whole 30 like NO COFFEE or tea!!! Hold up....what?! Yup that's right folks, this girls drink of choice this month is warm water. (Insert crying face here).

Use my EO's (essential oils) for fertility

I use Doterra essential oils on the reg but still have yet to concoct my own fertility blend. It's on my to do list! I love my "voodoo" oils as M calls them but hey, again it's relatively cheap and natural!

So basically after reading this list it seems that I have turned into a granola loving hippie (except I can't eat granola). Desperate times call for desperate measures! What about you guys? Did you turn over any new leaves?

  1. During all my fertility struggles I saw an acupuncturist too! Cutting out caffeine is a big one. Also, soy is often linked to infertility so it's always a good idea to limit that. I also found a yoga did that was specifically for infertility and had different routines depending on where you were in your cycle. I did all these things while doing Ivf. Not sure which one made it "work" finally, but it's worth giving anything a try :). Good luck!

  6. I did acupuncture the summer before our IUI, I actually really loved it. Just wanted to add/suggest for your reduce stress, mediation. I'm in the same boat with stress (and anxiety and panic attacks) and it's been a little helpful for me so i'm really making a bigger effort to try this year to be consistent with it.

  7. It's recommended to drink warm water since it's closer to your body's temperature. When we drink cold/ice water, our bodies use a lot of energy to heat it up. This tip is especially helpful while recovering from a cold.

  8. I've been a silent follower for a long time but had to comment on this one!! My friend has not been ovulating for over a year-- and for about 4 months she has taken clomid. Even after taking it- she never ovulated. Last month she decided to chuck the meds and start acupuncture! After 1 month she FINALLY ovulated! First time in over a year (she goes once a week)!!!! That (and lots of prayers) had been belong Her for sure!!!

Praying for you! And praying it helps!
