I'm back. I'm safe. And I'm exhausted. I learned a lot about myself on this trip...mostly about what my limits are mentally and physically. I'm not going into the details of half dome today...you will have to wait for that post till tomorrow to see if I made it or not!
The backpacking part of our trip was more than I bargained for but I survived the twenty plus miles I hiked with my thirty pound backpack. Is your mouth open in shock as you read this? Don't worry, mine is too. :) It wouldn't have been so grueling if the hike was flat but there were some steep hills and the weather was warm!
I did have a great time despite the physical demands of this trip. It felt great to exercise and challenge myself. I loved spending time with Matt's side of the family (you will never see my family backpacking this intensely) and I have more appreciation for God's creations here on earth. I also was reminded how nice it is to have running water, a toilet, and a bed! Ah, the simple things. :) Enjoy the pictures but be sure to stay tuned for tomorrow...I think you will be surprised!

next up: half dome. did I? or didn't I?
Thanks for being patient with my late post...we didn't get home last night till midnight and I HAD to shower. And then I HAD to sleep in on my wonderful bed. :) Stay tuned for tomorrow and thanks for all of your encouraging comments and prayers.

ReplyDeleteThis makes my stomach seriously churn in anticipation for our backpacking trips when Kev and I get married. You are so intense and so adorable! Excited to hear about the half dome hike!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures!!! I can't believe you carried a 30lb backpack! Can't wait to see if you made it (I'm sure you did)! :)
ReplyDelete"i've never packed this light for four days. ever." This literally made me laugh out loud! And I agree with Page, you would look cute camping. The picture of half dome makes me want to vomit at the site of it. You are hardcore, I would never want to put myself through that torture. Although a 30 pound backpack doesn't sound too miserable. I lug a 25 pound kid around constantly. ;)
