SLO Wedding!

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Last weekend M and I went to San Luis Obispo one last time this year for one last wedding this year! It was a whirlwind of a trip and we basically did it all in 24 hours. Sigh. My friend Cara, who I used to live with for a little bit in college, got married. The wedding was beautiful and I enjoyed spending time with good friends. We stayed with my newlywed brother and his wife which was fun. We also got to see another one of my roommate's two month old baby girl. She was precious and I had some good mommy practice time. :)

roomies! (well, for a quarter anyway)

It was a great night and it was so wonderful to see my old friends. We are getting so grown up! I think that makes about 6 or 7 weddings this year. Not a record amount but a lot! How many weddings did you attend this year?

Maternity Mondays: Week 14

Monday, October 10, 2011

I am counting down the days for this week because on Saturday we are finding out the sex of our baby! I can not wait and I really hope that he/she cooperates with the technician at the 3D photography place. The last time I think I failed to mention that baby B was very stubborn during the sonogram at the doctor's office and would not change position so we could get the right shot! We are not having your typical experience by having the technician tell us the sex, instead we are waiting to find out later that evening by cutting into a cake made by a friend and seeing if it is pink or blue! It's going to kill me to wait all day but it will be worth it to find out with all of our friends and family. Let's just say Maternity Mondays week 15 is gonna be a big one!
14 weeks!

This is the official beginning of my second trimester. I thought it was last week (oops) but realized it's this week. I am getting BIG! Yikes! And I still have six months to go! However, depending on what I wear sometimes you really can't tell. It's the profile shots that give me away. :)

This weekend we went out of town for our last wedding this season and I held a 2 month old baby. I totally had anxiety that she would cry the whole time but she fell asleep in my arms...so completely precious! Here she is...
Getting ready to do this on my own!
I loved holding her but could not believe how tired my arms were! And she's only 12 pounds... pathetic! Definitely need to start getting back into weights. Arg.

Not much else to report on this week. Still feeling awesome and actually enjoying the roundness that my stomach is taking on. :) I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and try to see if I can feel any movement but I know it's still too early. Baby B is the size of my fist...about 4 inches from head to rump. Getting bigger! Have a great Maternity Monday! :)

Pumpkin Perfection

Friday, October 7, 2011

I did it! I finally made those pumpkin cupcakes that my neighbor had me going gaga over since she shared some on Sunday. Although the recipe was more laborious than the usual cupcake recipe (Martha is always this way) to me it was worth it. I just love the spiciness of the nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves mixed with the cream cheese frosting. I am not a frosting girl because it is usually too sweet for me but this was the perfect amount of sweetness. You should definitely try these out!

This weekend M and I are venturing up to San Luis Obispo (again!) for our (cross your fingers) last wedding this year. While I do love weddings and supporting my friends I do not love traveling lately. I'm tired, alright?! And all I wanna do is "nest." I am excited to see my best friend Kelly as well as stay with my brother and his wife Tiffany. What are your plans? Baking cupcakes? ;)

She's got Good Jeans

Thursday, October 6, 2011

It's been a rough blogging week. Every time I plan to write about something it either doesn't work out because I am too tired (hence the pumpkin cupcake recipe slotted for today) or the weather doesn't cooperate. Hence the indoor fashion shoot below. However this week I did promise a post of the maternity jeans I bought so without any more excuses here they are!

I bought my jeans at Destination Maternity. They had a TON to choose from! Ironically shooting this close up is not that flattering (you're shocked, I know) but it was the only way to get a good look at what I got. That belly is HUGE! And I just may never want to wear "real" jeans again... shhhh don't tell.

Work it Wednesday

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Yay for rain! What a refreshing treat from the 90+ weather we had last week! I am so ready for fall. So this week for Work it Wednesday I opted for a sweater and my cords.

egg of hope by Briana Rene (10% of proceeds go to the children's hunger relief fund). This is one of the items she gave me for participating in her fashion show last august...yippee!

sweater:WOW culture
cords: ATL
shoes: Born (what? they're comfy!)

The Verdict Is: Quilty!

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

So I realize that today is Tasty Tuesday. The problem is that my husband barbecued some delicious flank steak Sunday night and I failed to take pictures of it. :( Then my neighbor brought over the most amazing pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting EVER! And I ate them both and did not share with Matt. (He just doesn't appreciate novelty items such as pumpkin flavored anything.) And then I again failed to take photos of her cupcakes. Boo. I can't even think about taking a picture when food is in front of me! :( So instead of tasty Tuesday we are going to have to make it tasty Thursday this week once I get my paws on that recipe.

Therefore, today I am posting on Campus Quilts since it is finally turning into fall in southern California! This company is pretty sweet because you send them all of your college T shirts and they turn it into a blanket! If you have an awesome mother- in- law like I do then you got yours for free because she has been doing this for a long time. :) (By the way Linda, you could be charging over $100 for one of these things!) I love that this blanket shows both mine and Matt's college experience. It's great for picnics or snuggling up around the fire pit.

Can you tell which shirts are mine and which were Matt's? Hmmm pink vs. engineering...

I choose a green/yellow backing for Cal Poly pride
So blogger thinks it's smart and rotated this picture the wrong way. I can't make it horizontal but do you notice the mustang embroidery? It covers the whole blanket and adds a little something extra.

Do you have old T shirts laying around? Send them away to Campus quilts! I'm sure they are just as good marginal compared to Linda's. :)

Maternity Mondays: Week 13

Monday, October 3, 2011

So I thought that last week was the end of my first trimester until I read all of my "week 13" updates and realized it was this week. Ooops! Last week I had another sonogram and despite the cranky technician, it was awesome! Baby B really looks like a baby!

You can even see the eye! And that twisty thing in the middle is the umbilical cord. And the spine! I'm amazed.

So along with that appointment I was offered the flu shot and I have done my research on the benefits and negatives of getting one while pregnant and I am STILL trying to decide what is best for Baby B! I was told that this is only the beginning of what is to come with being a parent. Sigh. This is hard stuff!

At work this week I had two co-workers tell me that they could see my bump. This made me smile. I happen to enjoy wearing flowy tops while not pregnant so this has been helpful this far in the pregnancy game. One day I will run out of flowy tops however and will have to let the cat out of the bag to my students and their parents...

I mentioned here last Friday that I haven't decided on what type of maternity jeans to buy. My current jeans still fit everywhere...but the waist. So I've been a total dude at work wearing them discretely unbuttoned with longer tops. Soon I think this may not work so I went out last Saturday and purchased two pairs...both designer. I tried to be frugal. I really did. But when I tried on the cheapos compared to the designers there was no comparison. The cheapos looked like "mom jeans" with an elastic band. Loose in all the wrong places (think crotch and butt). And SO not cute. And I figured (with the help of a mommy friend) that if I'm gonna be feeling uncomfortable about my body during the next few months I should at least be looking as good as I can in my jeans. AND that I will be living in these jeans so I better love them. And so it was settled...I used the extra money I have been making by working the after school tutoring program to buy me some nice jeans! I can't wait to show you them. They are currently being hemmed and will debut here on Friday. :)

From now on I am really going to scope out Forever 21, Target, Old Navy, andH&M's maternity lines to see if they have cute inexpensive blouses. Jeans are one thing I can't sacrifice on but blouses I can deal with. But mark my words I am holding out on all tops until I have NOTHING that fits anymore. I really want to see if I can do it!

Well that's it for maternity Mondays. Fun stuff going on! Have a great Monday!
